The White Princess started last night. It's about Elizabeth York who was forced to marry Henry Tudor after Richard III was killed at the battle of Bosworth Field. Its a follow-up series to The White Queen that aired about 2 years ago. Those that collect John Jenkins Designs Wars of the Roses range should enjoy this series. Quite well done . . . .

Historically, these series have to be taken for what they are, yet that being said, I enjoyed the White Queen very much and am looking forward to this new series. I love the history of Henry VII and you don't see much about him as he's overshadowed by his son A LOT! My feeling is this is going to portray him in not the best light as this is the tale of a young woman who was in love with her uncle, Richard III who was killed by Henry

I too, loved the series when it aired on UK TV, Zach. It was of course, based on the historical novel by Philippa Gregory - which tells the story of Elizabeth Woodville - Queen consort to King Edward IV of England. The book was first published in 2009 - so is still around - and in my opinion - is a thumping good read, and I highly recommend it. I actually think, if anything, the book is better than the TV series.

The book also happens to be Book 1 - in her "Cousins War" series - which has now increased to six books, so far - so plenty more to read on about this fascinating period of British history from this prolific author. I have yet to read the last two in this series - but loved the first four. jb
