South Africa 2010 beckons as England demolish Croatia 5-1 at the new Wembley. With less than a year to go to the greatest sporting event on the planet; an event that probably captures the imagination and manipulates the emotions of more human beings than any other sporting contest, not forgetting the total media hype surrounding the occasion, are there any treefroggers out there willing to take a punt on who'll lift the trophy next July?

Being the first finals held on the continent could an African country take the spoils?

Could England and Holland fight out re-enactment of a sporting Boer war?

How would South and North Korea react to meeting up in the finals?

Will the Argies make it under the guidance of Maradonna?

Will the Scots support anybody playing England?

Brasil....

As we will play in a new Continent (first time in Africa) to not change the tradition, as Brazil is the only country that won in every Continent, I will vote, of course, for the 6th World title.

Kaka and company will lift the Cup next year.

Pra frente Brasil....

The usual favorites: Brazil, Italy or Germany and now Spain also. But as Europeans never win outside Europe, I guess it'll be Brazil. Portugal, my team, well, I am afraid they are struggling to get there, guess what goes up always comes down sometime...

My Scots are out of it so that leaves my other heritage, the Germans, as my safe pick. But as an American I wouldnt be doing my part if I didnt support the soldiers of Uncle Sam's Army.

2. Brasil - Debrito; Viriato
1. Spain - Jazzeum
1. USA - Vanguard FC007

Hey dont forget the Aussies,no stupid penaltys this time.............

St george is ready to go on the car :) Will be crap for the time change for us, games will be early AM i think.

Great night on Wednesday, I could have got tickets to go but it was sisters 30th birthday so the family thing had to come first (begrudgingly)!:D

Put me down for Holland Evzone please.

PS - Scots supporting the English football team? please best joke of the day!!;):D

One team that may not be going to the big dance, as unbelievable as this may sound with all the talent they have, is Argentina. Apparently, Maradona can't coach and they've fallen into fifth place, which would mean they would be in a playoff. They haven't missed the Cup since 1970.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :D

They are in the thin danger line my friend, lost 3 X 1 for Brazil last Saturday and 1 X 0 to Paraguay this Wednesday. Only 4 countries from South America will pass through and they are in a difficult position and maybe will have to decide his classification against an Oceanic country……Australia or NZ….

Diego ‘sniff’ Maradona was a good player but a terrible coach.

Here Brad, if you want to practice your Portuguese.

The Argies are very popular in Brazil, aren't they?:D It'll be unbelievable if they don't make the finals, they have extraordinary players everywhere.

Rod,

Thanks. It's very tight for the fifth position, with four teams having a chance.
