Now that the respective Pennants have been won, it's time for the World Series.

My prediction is Tigers in six. I think the Tigers starting staff and hitters are probably a little better although the bullpens are probably more or less the same. However, no one has a pitcher like Zumaya so if he's healthy he can give the Tigers a big edge.

My heart says Cardinals, my head says Tigers. Just like the Marlins, Diamondbacks, Angels and White Sox, the Tigers will win it and fade off into the sunset.

I'd rather see an NL team win it where they play real baseball, the pitchers hit and the managers actually have to manage.............

Oh my I was wondering when someone would raise the issue of which league is better because the pitcher have to hit etc. Load of B S. It makes no difference if the pitchers hit or if the DH hits in the long run. Personally I think its a waste of an at bat for the pitcher to hit but hey thats the way it is in the NL. Not my league and never will be. But the managers have a hard job in both leagues and if you dont think so then you dont understand the game. As far as who will win, Tigers in 5. Then the trading auction will begin and Detroit will follow the Marlins into history.

This is a debate that will never end, it just depends on which kind of baseball you're the proponent of. The DH removes the strategy from the game. It's an abomination that should be removed but never will be because of the union.

For obvious reasons, I'm picking for the Tigers. I'd like to say Tigers in 4 but I have to give the Cardinals a game (Suppan) or two. They appear to be throwing the first game by pitching Reyes but they don't have much choice. However, in a seven game series, you can't concede a game.

I don't think the Tigers will disappear into the sunset because they have money. The White Sox didn't either. They just weren't as good as they were in 05.

As George says, my head says Detroit, but I,m from St Louis and the Cardinals have beat the odds so far.
You know Pujols has only been playing like a mortal so he,s due to come out big.
Maybe one more miracle!

I guess the DH didn't help the Tigers tonight; so much for the nitwits who were predicting the Tigers would sweep. The way they handed the Yankees their a$$es, I guess one could get carried away.

Let's see how the Tigers do vs Weaver (didn't the Yankees dump him because he couldn't pitch; another brilliant trade by the Yankees), Carpenter and the NL MVP, Suppan....................

I didn't see the game and won't be watching the Series but let's not forget the Tigers traded Weaver to the Yankees. He's not that good a pitcher and very combustible. He's had a good run the last couple of months but he'd have to do this over the course of a year to make a believer out of me.

Jeeeez, Brad, don't you ever get tired of being WRONG!:D Sorry man, I couldn't help it, the devil made me do it.:p I don't have a dog in this fight, but if I had to pick, it would be the Tigers 'cause of the good ol fashion spankin' they handed out to the Yankettes and their "well mannered" fans. Wake me up when it's over.zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The ninth inning almost caused me a sleepless night. My wife loves the games but did not like my closing expletives but understood the frustration. Good games so far. No blowouts yet. Snowing here now, would be a cold night for a game here. I bet they are glad to go to St. Louis. My favorite teams are White Sox- Tigers, Pistons, and the Bears have been my first choice through many tough years. Hope they get to the super bowl. Leadmen

All the talk all day here in St Louis is about Rogers cheating, what are they saying in Detroit?
Gary.

They are asking the same question here. Some news people wonder if he had something on his hand. Rogers said he did not. He says it was dirt but it looked like something else to me. He looked at reporters and said he did not cheat and it would not have made a difference in his pitching. I guess the officials looked at it and nothing was done at the time. I don't know if he ever had problems like this before. Do I believe him???????? Leadmen:confused:

I don't believe him. Prior to this year he had a 9 ERA in the post season. Ask any Yankee fan or Met fan about him. In 1999, after the Mets had made a heckuva comeback against the Braves, to come down from 3-0 in the LCS to make it 3-2, the scene shifted to Atlanta and in the 10th inning Rogers was asked to keep the game tied. He promptly walked in the winning run. The blankety blank.

I don't believe him either. LaRussa totally blew it. I am sure Cardinal clubhouse people saw the same shots we did and tipped LaRussa off; it was not dirt, it was pine tar, which gives the pitcher a better grip on the ball in cold weather.

He should have asked the ump to check the hand before Rogers got off the field; when they discovered it was pine tar, a foreign substance, he is gone from that game and the next one too, World Series over, Cardinals win.

As Brad said, Rogers has been stiff in the post season; his fastball was in the high 80's all year, now it is up in the low 90's. People up here in Boston on talk radio have been saying even after he washed the pine tar off, he still was dominant the rest of the game, so maybe it wasn't the pine tar.

Bullcrap; he had it somewhere else after that, his glove, the brim of his cap, etc. Once a cheater, always a cheater. Having played baseball for 25 years, several of which in two semi pro leagues, I've seen it all, and the guy is a cheater.

I know I,m predjudice, but Detroit looks pretty bad, of which I hope they don,t come out of it for two more games.
Gary

I agree. Detroit sure has hitting problems. The pitcher Casey was only one that got a couple of hits. Carpenter pitched an outstanding game. Not the kind of publicity smudgy Kenny Rogers got. Hope the Tigers improve tonight or it will be like their three game loss to last place KC Royals. Leadmen

Mike and the Maddog here on WFAN in New York said today that it looked like the team had gone into a batting slump. Generally, if that happens you're in big trouble. That week layoff really hurt them. Looks like the bengals will be joining the Mets and the Padres as teams highly favored to beat the Cardinals. You have to give them credit. It also shows that what you do in the regular season is meaningless.
