I have been watching "The Last Kingdom" on Netflix and was inspired to post some photos. These are Britains, Conte, and Russian castings. The Saxon swinging an axe at the left rear rank is a plastic Replicant. I am a big fan of this range and I am looking forward to the new releases.saxon.jpgviking.jpg

Nice collection, you should put them in the one photo ,opposing each other. It would make a great scene. You are right about The Last Kingdom, terrific series. Regards Greg.

Nice work, I'm painting some of the same figures now to go with the metal painted ones that I have. Where did you get the figure in the first picture that has no helmet with the blue and black shield.

Thanks, I tried to get them all in one picture but the painting That I used as a backdrop is to small and if I moved the camera farther back to fit in all the figures you could see the picture frame.

Thanks. That figure is from a Conte set based on the movie the Vikings. In addition to that figure there is a man throwing a spear that is also available in the plastic sets and figures based on Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis in the movie. I was just looking for the box and couldn't find it so I don't know the set number. They don't have a picture on the Conte web site either and it is hard to find. I have most of the old Conte sets and they go very well with the Wm Britains figures. Most of them were sculpted by Ken Osen who now is the chief sculpter and owner of Britains.

Ok, now I know what set your talking about it is a nice figure. I have been picking up a set here and there of the old Conte sets when I see a good deal. I got most of the plastic sets now, picked up about 16 boxes of Vikings, Saxons and Normans the last couple of months. Plus got some on new Russian plastic sets and a few metal ones too. I should be finished with the 20 or so figures that I am painting in a few weeks.

Nice collection! I'm looking forward to the new seasons of "Vikings" and "The Last Kingom".

Cheers,

Brendan

Believe the Conte Set Number is "VIK 022"

New Saxon archers for our Wrath of the Northmen collection. Look for these in the winter 2016 catalog.

Great new Viking scene with new figures from WB facebook page.

Having the 2017 Spring Catalogue in hand I see that the two new figures in the photo are exclusive sets for Academy Games, so presumably will only be available via them as it has in the past it has been for other exclusive figures only being available via Sierra Toy Soldiers / Magpie etc also I guess it will be a while before they appear on this other companies website as they're not on it yet. Postage will make it expensive for UK collectors !

Wow, that's disappointing. Some great looking figures which will not be easily obtainable. Checked out Academy Games website.....mostly board games, no figures..... When and how to get these figures ?

You can only get them via there Vikings board game Kickstarter which only has 13 days left to run.

With that hoop to jump through for collectors who must have everything in a range I can see they're going to become highly prized and sort after and no doubt highly priced too then !
