Andy can you tell me if in the future King and Country will be producing any figures covering the period. Frontline has a few sets out reflecting Rorke's Drift and Conte has his Hero's of the Drift along with Keith Rocco's Rorke's Drift. It would be great if someone would come out with an extensive line other than in traditional toy soldier form ie Gloss Finish. There's alot to be feature as well as some of the leading characters. Great more red coats thats all I need I'll be broke........

WELLINGTON

But think of all the additional joy when opening the packages on arrival.

Britains is going to be coming out with a new Zulu War line in matte finish in 2007.

Thank you for passing on the info. Hopefully they will be more to scale than the figures provided earlier. Thier Zulus I found to be quite off scale in my mine. Once again thank you.....The Lt.

I'd love to see K&C do a Zulu War series, but if WB does as nice a job on their new line as they are doing with their latest WWII stuff, why wait for K&C.:)

Fred

I would not expect it anytime soon with so much new stuff already announced. But you never know, it sounds like something they very likely might do one day.

Yeah, you're probably right Doug, Andy has a lot on his plate right now, unfortunately (or fortunately for my wallet's sake) aside from a few of the WWII pieces there is not much there that interests me. I should be in for a real beating for that remark.

Fred

I think it's been mentioned before that this would be something that would be nice for Andy to revisit. My thought is why not do it do for the 25th anniversary of King and Country in 2009?

It would also be the 130 anniversary of the Zulu War.

That would nicely dovetail, wouldn't it?

Should we start lobbying now, or wait for the dust to settle on the Crusades, Alamo, ACW, Warbirds, AK, Crimea, Joan of Arc, etc., etc. I can hear Andy now "what does it take to make these #%$!*&^# happy!"

Fred

Being the new kid on the block let's not get Andy upset.......The Lt.

Lobbying now for something that may not happen for a couple of years wouldn't seem to make that much sense to me. However, if it's done in a style that's not "what have you done for me lately?", I don't think he'll mind.

Silence may be mistaken for a lack of interest, polite, but persistent groveling might get the job done. Maybe our Brit friends who pleaded so successfully for the Brit Paras could be enlisted in the cause.;) Rob, Kevin, Simon, anyone?

Sorry, did someone call for unreserved and unashamed groveling?

I'm your man! Thanks for the recommendation Fred. :p
I'm that pathetic in my whining that there are no levels too low for me to stoop.

Although WWII is my primary range for collecting, I also like the Zulu War period. Breaks up the pattern of Olive Drab and Field Gray on the shelves.

And I can go one better on the 2009 release excuse (25th K&C Anniversary).

The 24th Foot being released on K&C's 24th Anniversary in 2008 would be a nice touch.

So, first 6 months of 2007 spent trying to wear down Andy's resistance levels to yet another range of figures, second 6 months of 2007 designing and sculpting for a December 2007 K&C UK show release - figures available early 2008 in time for the 24th Anniversary.

Now with a compelling marketing strategy like that, it's surely got to be a dead cert hasn't it?

Andy used to do some great Zulu war stuff. He launched Zulu war in the mid to late 1980's, with a couple of sets of Zulu figures (around 6 poses). Then in 1994-1995, he made dismounted 24th Foot and 8th Foot Officers with dead horses, about 12 poses of Zulus and a cool wood and papier mache Rorke's Drift burning farmhouse. It would be great to see K&C Zulu War stuff in todays level of sculpting and painting. I think the 24th Foot for the 24th Anniversary of K&C is a great idea.

I had recomended that for the 25th Anniversary of K&C, Andy redo the original K&C products: Seaforth Highlanders, Frontier Field Force (both Indian Army & Royal Artillery Field guns and Maxim Guns) and Afghan Hilltribesmen, but in todays level fo quality.

Louis,

Do you have the 1980's K&C Zulu figures in your collection? I have never seen these figures and I would love to view some pictures of them! I assume they were presented in gloss finish.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Pat,

The Zulus from the 1980's and 1990's were done in Glossy. Because there were only the two dismounted officer figures to legitimately fight them, Andy used to portray them fighting mostly Seaforth Highlanders. Here is a link to several photos of the early Zulu War stuff, including the dismounted 24th Foot Officer and the Rorke's Drift Farmhouse:

Louis,

Thanks for the link. I should have thought to look on Bill Sager's site!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat
