Thinking about warbirds (1 Viewer)

I know Andy has said he will be concentrating on the more rare planes in this series,but how about this.A downed ME109 with a member of the home guard on watch or shooing away a couple of trophy hunting kids?.(a classic Battle of Britain scene).Or in a similar vein a crashed but intact V1 being examined by some top brass.The only reason i suggest this is because of the forthcoming Oasis scene.It looks so good and these small scenes/vinnetes can be so evocative and would look real good in my office!!!

I think these are cracking ideas. K&C collectors are becoming more and more interested in 'Displaying' their items and the small vinettes opposed to large dioramas lend themselves very well to this. I make and sell a lot more smaller (under 12") dioramas than i do large ones.

NA87 is a very good example of a small scene of a few figures which say a lot.

The downed warbirds would look great! i have a meeting with Andy in HK in 2weeks time so worth a chat over a cold beer! or glass of Vino

Don't be surprised if Andy is a step ahead of you on the downed warbirds issue. At the Chicago Show Andy bought one of those cool welded metal models of a downed Russian Yak fighter with some German Aces trophy hunting on it. I wouldn't be shocked if this type of scene were reproduced by K&C.

Whilst the Russian scene sounds cool, i just think the combination of the ME109 scene and Tony's excellant dio's(a farmers field perhaps)is a classic moement from 1940 there on your desk.As i said there are different figures you could have.You could have the pilot being marched away by the home guard whilst a policeman takes down the details of the farmer whose just had a German plane crash into his peaceful corner of Kent.

Can't remember seeing many models of the V1 but i'm sure their out there.It would have to be crashed though,because can you imagine the size of the launch ramp!.

Its only when you really sit and think about things that you realise just how huge a subject Andy has in WW2.I love the idea of some crossovers between figures and Warbirds,the scope for ground staff/crew etc is very big.I would also love to see a bomb disposal squad possibly at work on an airfield 1940.

But i suppose i'd better get on,would be interested to hear ideas other people have for ground crew etc.

I think that a circa 1940 Bomb Disposal scene would make for an interesting one off Vignette. The figures on their own would, I suspect, lose the story, but I do like the idea.

Interesting ideas guys but when it comes to crashed planes I can't see why you'd want to pay a lot of money for something that is essentially broken.

I reckon I may have missed the point but it just seems that wooden planes are expensive enough without paying for damaged ones!

I don't know, James, sound like a pretty good idea to me. Maybe the damaged planes could be made of polystone to keep the cost down and a scene with a damaged plane could probably be made to take up less space than a large, expsensive, intact 1:30 wooden version. Also like to see Andy make damaged tanks and other AFV's, so I don't see the damaged aspect as being a drawback.

Easy,cos it would look so good mate!.Imagine the crashed ME109 with its propellers all bent up in the earth.Another would be invader shot down over the glorious English countryside!.The very symbol of this countrys lone stand against Tyranny and evil...stop me i'm going all Churchillian now.

Yep you're right it does sound quite good. I think Boot has it right though. Make it a polystone model rather than wooden one.
