Ajax (the Great), one of the Greek heros in the Iliad, the tallest and strongest of all the Achaeans, and bested in skill-at-arms by his cousin Achilles and Diomedes and eventually Hector. Unlike the movie outcomes, Ajax survives the fall of Troy in the Iliad.
