Very, very happy Ron:D!

Was tempted by the Old Guard figures before, and even bought one for a closer look, but I was always put off by the fact that the poses seemed more suggestive of troops on parade or standing for review - not much use for a battlefield display. That's something that's definitely been remedied now though. Like I said earlier, it'll be great to see these guys matched off against their British opposite numbers from the earlier Coldstream releases.

Always brilliant to see grenadiers of the Old Guard represented in any circumstances anyway. Whatever your opinion of their actual abilities or performance, they really are the iconic troops of the Napoleonic era.

So I assume multiple pre-orders have already gone in then, Mr. Phillips;)?

Cheers,

Molloy.

Surely the 158 will be sold out ... before the actual release in AUG. :p

Now ,,, can we discuss the new line artillery ?

Cavalry first! :D

This figures, who come with DEL PRADO booklets , are K&C, correct?

Definitely Cavalry next for me. Those are nice though are they K&C, I don't recall seeing them on the site?

I do want to wait until I get my hands on a First Legion mounted piece before I commit scarce resources for this purpose though. They seem very promising to me and their infantry is first rate.

They're not on the site, only by the newsagents

Soon will come this nice guy, on their site:

I wonder where this idea came from?

Could this have been the inspiration?

I love the Naps! The single figure additions to the Guard in fighting poses are much needed. The strictly limited edition set is the best I have seen. I have just put it on pre-order. How many of you have done so as well?

too, but no the prices : $25 => $32 !!! :mad:[/QUOTE]

The new union troop prices are also up as well to $29. Does anyone know if this is a gradual increase in all prices or just associated with those 2 series?

At $32 each I might as well start collecting the First legion figures instead. I think they look better and was avoiding them because of the price difference but with this crazy jump up in price and my spending buget being much tighter now. I think I,ll buy the First legion figures instead if the K&C is going to take this kind of price jump!!!
I think I,m going to have to think about not collecting K&C anymore if these are the new prices for single figures?
I,ve bought a few Of the First legion figures and for 3 dollars more they are much better figures. I,m not crazy about the square base on there figures but they look very nice and a step up from K&C IMO.
I,ll collect them and Britains if this is going to be the new price for a single K&C figure??? There is only so much play money and I think this new price increase is the crossroads!:(

I just saw the price of these single figures....they are too expensive in my opinion....if they go up much more I won't be buying too many more, ...as for multiples forget it!!!.....I realize prices are going up everywhere but these are toyes and not food on the table. And on another the price is soo high that I most likely will be putting my money into Napoleonic Antiques...so figures get me a real sword from the period...its too bad because I have always been a KING & COUNTRY SUPPORTER...

I hear you buddy! Multiples are right out the window. I think I might pass alltogether and start collecting the better looking first legion figures! They sell at $34.95 for a single figure look better and are only $3 bucks more each!

The new K&C Imperial Guard certainly look good but hard to figure out which campaign to place them in.
They dont really go with a Waterloo diorama as the typical campaign uniform included long trousers with cap-cords and plumes removed.
They might be ok for Borodino but I don't think they saw action in this battle.
Earlier campaigns such as Austerlitz, Jena/Auerstaedt,Eylau, Friedland and Wagram show uniforms of this style but again I have to research their role in actual battle. We don't, however, have the opponents for them from any matt makers of this scale.

I think First Legion will benefit from this price increase. I understand their reasoning for the square bases but I also prefer the formed bases.

I strongly reccomend that K&C do some Fusiliers in campaign dress for those of us who enjoy groupings and dioramas.

I have to admit the $7.00 jump is big for me too.

Certainly makes you want to go and buy more of those $21.00 French Line figures !

The cost factor I am sure is directly related to the increase in production costs - I fear our little hobby is going to get more expensive than we all can imagine

I for one will buy multiples of these Great Old Guard Figures !

- but, your right about priorities - it will start having effect on what else I will buy too in other Ranges.

But, LETS EMBRACE THESE WONDERFUL RELEASES NOW !! :D :)

Finally - Napoleonic Releases for 2008 !!

I love the Napoleonic releases - one of the reasons I cut a great deal of my purchases of diecast armor and aircraft - but I admit the choices are many and the K&C price jump will likely drop them a notch on my priority list. So many lines and manufacturers to choose from which makes each purchase more acutely considered.

For me the bayonet "practice" figure is a question for me. After all, does anyone hope to create a dio with practicing figures and do they anticipate more in along this subject? From a purely personal opinion I don't care a fig for "drill" figures when I can buy figures suitable for battle.

With all that being said - bravo on the new figures. I would prefer Brits but the new French figures are fantastic.

Eric
