Its a real shame the Afghanistan thread was ruined by politics.I have no wish to restart any arguments or politics as I made my viewpoint clear.I would just like to send my countries best wishes and full support to all the UK and US troops serving our countries wherever they are.

Ok guys,I was worried this would happen so please let me explain.

There was a previous thread about this that became political when one member who was not proud of his country disagreed.The spoiling of that thread was very annoying to myself and many others who wrote to me about it.So heres what I did.I started a thread that was only about UK and US troops so the said person could not talk about his country and once again derail this thread.I hope most of you know me well enough to know just how much i am grateful for your own particular countries contribution to the overall effort.

What I wanted and I believe we should be free to have is a non political thread just to say we are very proud of our soldiers out there without it being hijacked with political viewpoints.This was the intention behind this thread.

Well said Rob - I can't imagine many disagreeing with your sentiments.

Lets honour all those who serve from the free World, also remembering the commitment and sacrifice of their families at this time of year.

I don't agree with either of these wars we are engaged in but that has nothing to do with our soldiers and the service they provide to us.

I go out of my way to thank any soldiers I see in uniform and they really appreciate that I make the effort.
