Three police officers killed in Oakland CA (1 Viewer)

To clarify my sometimes dark sarcastic humor, finely tuned over many crime scenes, murders and DB's, AS A CONVICTED FELON, HE'S NOT ALLOWED TO POSSESS ANY FIREARM, THEREFORE HE SHOULD BE TRIED POSTHUMOUSLY FOR THAT AS WELL, AND FAMILY/ESTATE MADE TO PAY.

Good luck getting that one through the courts. According to the news I heard last night on the radio that his sister, in whose house he hid himself and where the arsenal magically appeared-he didn't have the AK-47 on him at the traffic stop-his sister was thinking of suing the Oakland PD for roughing her up when they had to go in and bring him out.

This is where we are...

Build a wall around the city, give people 24 hours to leave, then seal the place off forever, shut off the utilities and let the animals kill each other.

There was a SWAT sergeant in the SMSO who had the same idea for a place called East Palo Alto;) The stupidty of some of the residents of Oakland continue to flock to the socalled plight of the murderer. I have to remind myself that they are the minority. Basically I am disgusted by them. My teachings tell me to pity them. I do so with reservation. Better describedas mixed feelings. Sometimes I do not understand....dare I say..... Gods' will?

Yep, wall it off, and throw in all of the "activist" lawyers, too, who stir up "the oppressed" against law enforcement officers, who have created the legal climate in CA in which those officers now have to fear for their lives when they go on patrol, and let them reap what they have sown.

The knee-jerk reaction by some to something like this is "there ought to be a law", but does one honestly believe that while breaking many other laws a criminal will follow gun laws?

It is tragic and my thoughts and prayers are with the families, but I don't want to see something pushed through that people will regret later, especially at the Federal level reacting to something that took place in CA that is made to affect us all. The current administration is hostile enough to anyone having guns (and ammunition). :(

Update is 4 officers Killed in the line of duty the 4th was taken off life support this morning.
RIP

Guys I have not seen a news report on this outrage so I would appreciate a link.
My condolences to the officers murdered. It is really sad when people serving the community are murdered.
Unfortunately in too many places in the world this sort of senseless behaviour seems to be commonplace.
I thought I would post an interesting obituary (comment) from the London Times which I think gives a lot to think about.

From the London Times:

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, *Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since*his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be*remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
Knowing when to come in out of the rain; *Why the early bird gets the worm; *Life isn't always fair; and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more*than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but
overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job*that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little*in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son,*Reason.

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;
I Know My Rights
I Want It Now
Someone Else Is To Blame
I'm A Victim

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.
If*you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing. *

Laws prevent the law-abiding, not the lawbreakers. Since we've gone full tilt into the pleas and PTI arena, in traffic court no less, we've basically told our society that laws are relative to the perpetrator, and excuses for running a red light, speeding, joining a gang, committing a robbery, killing someone enable only the criminal to get off, not the law abiding majority. Sad state of affairs that IS going to get worse with the ascendancy of enablers and excusers.

The LA Times reports there are more than 16,725 people in California wanted on various parole violations - about 12% of the 122,000 who are out on parole. This is another situation where laws are in place, but are not enforced for whatever reason. The politicians will make a lot of noise about this - round a few up and then it will go back to business as usual when everything quiets down.

I am afraid it will get worse before it gets better. California and many other states are close to being insolvent. When State and local governments have to drastically cut back , public safety is not exempt. We will see fewer police officers, fewer parole officers etc. The state I live in is implementing wholesale early release of felons to reduce the cost of running the prisons. Legal gun sales are increasing in the urban areas and our liberal brethren are concerned that the ''less educated classes" might do something inappropriate.
