If W.Britains does a matte FIW series I would go crazy!:D It would be so awesome! I dont collect the black watch range but this figure I will get.

Don't want to rain on your parade but the FIW will come and it will be gloss :D

I consulted the oracle at Delphi

I think it will happen
Britains does have glossy Zulu War figures and is tremendously successful with their matte AZW series.
Britains does have glossy FIW figures and they "will be" tremendously successful with a matte FIW series ;) :)

Well put Konrad, you can't beat this logic!

Cheers,

I love both the glossy and the matte FIW figures but that lone Black Watch grenadier is calling for some support and opponents. I am hoping that what happened with the Museum Collection single Napoleonic figure will happen with FIW as well. Also to the 1882 Anglo-Egyptian Black Watch too with a sudan series:)

Hi Randy, To me, here on the forum, it's all good. Even disagreements are fun or at worst tempests-in-a-tea-pot. There has never been so much variety and quality as there is now.

If they are matte, I'll save some money. If they are gloss, I'll part with some money but enjoy my figures. And then there's the forum. It's nice to be able to share ones interests with others, so easily on a daily basis.:)

This might all come across as a bit of Polyanna but hell I'm 61, if I don't start enjoying it all now, when will I?

Wiishing you and all the others a nice day :D cheers.

This might be a bit of thread jacking, but have any of you visited Fort Ticonderoga? I saw it as a kid with my father and was truly impressed.

Is it being well maintained? And Fort George is just a bit further south. I never got to visit that one. How is it?

It was WB's FIW Classic glossy line that got me collecting glossy again and I have loved every minute of it. BTW I'm 64, retired and like you look forward each day to sharing the hobby with nice folks like you. Your presence was missed during your French holiday.

I will be 61 in October Russell and I certainly wouldn't consider our hobby as Polyanna. I for one feel that you should never be so old that you can't enjoy your youth. Its a terrific hobby and I'm luv'n every minute of it.

No apologies required... Ft. Ti is a great site and privately owned. It is always worth a visit and is situated on a very scenic spot. There is also a great collection of historical military objects on display that cover a significant span of time from the Revolution and up to the early Republic.

I think Ft George is a 'must visit' site. It is (next to Louisburg) one of the premier military reconstructions by Parks Canada.
If possible try to schedule a visit during one of the special events when there will be volunteers and re enactors to supplement the staff.
Once you have made it to George, you should take the time to visit Ft Erie, a short drive away, and also Ft Niagara on the American side.

...and by the way be assured that more Classic Gloss F&I are coming.
...and as far as Matte subjects from this period... they will appear sooner or later too.

All the Best!

Wow Ken, You're just full of good news. Better than Santa Claus.

PS Inspired by this thread, I started a new one this morning in general toy soldier discussion under the heading Historical Sites Where I live

Hi Ken, you wrote

The Fort George you are talking about, is it the one in NY State? From your sentence it reads like it's in Canada.

I've already got Ft. Erie and Niagara on my list since you mentioned them-thanks.

My wife and I will be driving from Montreal to the south-west and so I'd like to include some forts and other historical sites in our itinerary. So with the information I get, I'll try to steer our route accordingly.

Sounds like a fine trip, Russell,
hope you enjoy it a lot.
If you bring a camera, maybe you can take some photos of any FIW period Forts or related item.
They might serve very well to keep the discussion up and "lure" the manufacturers into doing that stuff  :D

It is the one in Canada next to Niagara-on-the-Lake and directly across from Ft Niagara on the US side.
Both are really worth the visit.
Ken
