I picked up a set of these (TIC-020) at a local show this past weekend. I was thinking about getting some more, but wondered if anyone has heard if John is going to do any officers or standard bearers? I recall John talking about wanting to make some dead guys to lay over the logs, but I don't recall anything about the officers. If any of you are going to the London show, maybe you might ask John?

Thanks

Great question Matthew, officers and some wounded figures are sorely needed. It would also be good to know if and when we'll ever see some French troops specificly made for Ticonderoga to man the earthworks.

K&C did a wonderful piece of Napoleon and his Generals gathered around a tent. I was very much hoping that JJD would do a similar theme for Ticonderoga. Abercomby did hold such a meeting before the battle, so there is no problem there.

Abercomby, and maybe 5 or 6 officers. Including Major Eyre of our beloved 44th (buy 2 and move one to your BoM display shelf), another Rogers, Bradstreet, 42nd commanding officer, Gage, and maybe a few of the other regiments, even colonial officers. Would be a very versatile group.

Fraxinus - didn't you also say I could use the Prussians too? :wink2:

I also want some more French regulars, but John did come out with the one new unit for PoA so I can not complain too much.

That would be a fine set, and also one of a Montcalm & Levi command group for the French would be very welcome.
Could probably skip the figure of Gage for the Brit set- He seemed to be mysteriously missing in the latter stages of the campaign.

But at the present time we have the 42nd floundering in the abbatis without any company officers. Do they attack! Do they retreat! Please John, give us some officers to end this nightmare .{sm2}

+1 for Officers around table twirling moustaches and planning...

However I think sadly these sets will be a limited appeal, for example the Rangers preparing for a raid are a fabulous set, I only just got myself for Christmas, and especially love 'the card players' the most, but they haven't sold out. I think for John to take this seriously, sets like this need to sell through to encourage him to do more than just advancing, firing poses. I have to say I think we are spoiled with the alternative poses and sets we get from John. It seems like he's already painted the whole picture in his head, so there must be some officers for Ticonderoga 'on the list', and here's to hoping for the officers planning..... great idea Fraxinus.

James you are right.
In my opinion too, without diminishing the others value, JJD has a better vision of the final composition of each collection than other companies on the market. Of course with a slower production is not easy to perceive this.

The JJD sets do not increase quickly and collectors (like me!) are champing to fill the voids in their armies. However the matter set by set goes on the right way and without realizing it we have a fair number of figures in different poses that meet our glance. Really some sets need to be doubled or tripled to reach the optimal number of figures.

This happened with the Battle of Monongahela, with Snowshoes and the battle of the Plains of Abraham, although for the latter we are waiting further sets of infantry and artillery. The same thing is happening to Culloden and Sudan.

I love the sets like those you mention, the Rangers are very nice and from the RR-002 to the last RR.020 there is enough room for many wonderful sets. May be sets like these have to return to be limited editions.

I like the sets that are little scenes as well. RR-001 to RR-003 are all limited editions sets of 500. I think maybe these could be added to the club set selections in the future. Then those of us who want an "officer's assembly" could order it. And John would be assured the sales.

I agree with the comments on John having a picture, or vision of the completed ranges before he starts. And yes it can be hard to see where he is going. While I want to have it all now, it is nice to see the surprises as they get released and my bank account is also happy. I've been trying to teach my son to shine shoes to earn some more money, but these five year olds today just don't have the attention span that we had as kids.:rolleyes2:

I really want to see what John has planned for the Prussians, perhaps some Austrians as well? And I would love to have some French Cavalry, even though they don't fit into any range he is currently doing. I would still put them on the table against the British.

I would like to comment that I am glad that John is not doing limited edition sets for the bulk of the figures. While I can see limited editions for officers and unique figures, the rank and file that we need to bulk out the units needs to be available for a while. I think we will see more personalities and such in the club sets, which is fine with me.

Just my thoughts after a tiring day.
