We haven't had a poll in a while - so on a very rainy day here in the East are a few suggestion. Hopefully John does them all, but pick one. The legend of Duncan Campbell is an interesting one if you haven't read it before.

I'd like to see a dashing figure of chevalier de Levis, not to mention a new figure of Montcalm.

 

[Fraxinus]

All sound very nice, with the possible exception of Lord Howe. The light infantry dress is so spartan in character it may not have the required "snazz" factor. Although very utilitarian, the light infantry cap is simply a permanent bad "hat" day !!!

I voted for Duncan Campbell, but would have voted for a new Montcalm figure standing in his waistcoat checking for any breach in the position behind the firing fusiliers of the Royal-Roussillon regiment at the log wall, if that had been an option!

I didn't include Montcalm in the poll because I'm guessing that's one John likely does as part of the regular release. The polls always amaze me as the "scouting party" is not one that I thought would generate much interest.

the biggest role that Howe played...was that his sudden and quick death prior to the engagement...suppressed his advice on attacking the abbatis with artillery and left the command in the hands of an inept Abercrombie...maybe costing the British army their worst defeat of the 7 Years War...he could be a good choice...

I think Campbell is a boring figure...other than the legend of his dream and the curse of his death at Carillion...he would be my last choice...the whole story is kind of hard to swallow...

Chevalier de Levis was the most interesting character...participating in the victory at Carillion and later at Battle of Sainte-Foy...he is the most fascinating to me...I especially liked that he at Montreal...when surrendering...unhappy with the terms of capitulation...which did not include traditional "honors of war"...burned regimental colors rather than turning them over to the British.

Robert Rogers...if John does another Major Rogers...I would be surprised...it will be his third including the Frontline figure..I doubt he will do him again...

Capt. Abercrombie and Lt. Clerk (the scouting party) is also an interesting choice...their poor job at reconnaissance and underestimating the terrain defenses of the French position was as large a mistake as the many others that were made in deciding the attack plan...

I guess my pick would be....Francis de Gaston, Chevalier de Levis...he seems the most fascinating character to me...but like Montcalm...John will probably do him as a regular edition...

you're probably right Marcus...you can't use the Snow Shoe's Robert Rogers except in a snowy diorama with those shoes on...so he might end up making 2 more...

Skipping over the dignitaries like Bradstreet, Gage, Abercromby - how about:

1) the ever present Capt. Trepezec and our old friend Langy

2) Haviland the early

3) Haldiman of the Grenadiers

4) Capt. Bassignac and his infamous red hanky

Well Michael, I actually don't disagree with you - Campbell is a bit boring, and as a stand alone figure General Lévis would definitely be more to my taste!

The problem for me personally though, is that I am more of a Diorama setup kinda guy, and AFIK Lévis was the commander of the French right flank and therefore, unlike Campbell was nowhere near the Black Watch/Grenadier unit attack, which was directed at the French center (under Montcalms direct command)!

On second thought and inspired by Combat I actually think my first choice would be the commander of the unit with the 6 grenadier companies - Lt. Col. Haldiman (60th Foot)!
