Since it is coming up on the Christmas season, I would ask Santa for cavalry for Lord Uxbridge to lead. The Household, Guards or Inniskillings would be awesome. Or maybe Wellington's best cavalry, the KGL?
I agree. It's time for British Cavalry...I think we'll make some.
Regards,
Matt
please make any brit cavalry except the Scots Greys
That works for me as well as some light dragoons fighting to rescue the retreating heavies. I must admit I am not much of a fan of the Greys either and Ponsonby should have been relieved well before Waterloo for his poor performance in the Peninsula. Napoleon was in general all too right in his assessment.Since it is coming up on the Christmas season, I would ask Santa for cavalry for Lord Uxbridge to lead. But Scott, most horses are bay, although there is much variation in shade. Actually some Chestnuts would be nice as well.I think the Scot Greys would be a great idea. At least they bring a welcome break from all of the brown/black horses
Indeed that would be nice. Any KGL cavalry would actually be nice; they were the best the British had.I think that I would like to see the Household Cavalry. The Kings German Legion heavy cavalry would great in that they were both at Waterloo and broke the French squares at Garcia Hernandez.
I am truly sorry mate and my apologies to the Queen. I am afraid however that opinion (excluding the lack of interest in the Greys of course) did not originate with me and is well shared by many Napoleonic scholars.Bill ,
I almost spilled my Tea ....first the "not much of a fan of the Grey's either "and the Ponsonby comment and then the" KGL cavalry would actually be nice; they were the best the British had"... WOW ... You can kiss your audience with the Queen mum good buy mister All the best mate Gebhard

You are quite correct that the popular notion of British cavalry at Waterloo, including the movie, starts and ends with the Greys, which is most incorrect. Of course they did capture an Eagle and make it to the French guns, albeit out of control, with no good purpose and a negative result, but they were hardly the only British cavalry engaged or even the most effective. They also did not leave England in the 1800s before Waterloo. I would much prefer to see any of the other heavy units involved, such as the Life Guards or the 1st Royal Dragoons, both of which fought extensively in the Peninsula. My main reason for preference of other British Cavalry subjects to the Greys, is that the Greys have been done and if you watch Waterloo, the British Cavalry was the Scots Greys. I like to see units that haven't been done before. The Russian Hussars were two units I hadn't heard of before but are awesome figures.
In all deference to Bill, I would like to see an infantry regiment other than the guards. The guards were probably the stars but you need the supporting players as well.
I agree with Noah. Each FL release has been better than the last.
And fun it was mate. Of course the British cavalry had very mixed results in the Peninsula, ranging from Paget's great charge at Benavente, the determined counter cavalry action of the 1st and 16th Dragoons at Fuentes D'Onoro and La Marchant's decisive attacks at Salamanca to Ponosby's precursory fiasco at Talavera. I suppose we can blame it all on Wellesley's sister-in-law.I agree with em just never thought Id see you write it Mate ! Just a lil fun All the Best . Gebhard
Matt,
I know you will not tell us which cavalry unit you will be doing. (At least not YET) However, can you tell us when we might expect it?
Glad it will not be Scots Grays, nothing against them, but I too would like to see something new done.
