What does it take to clear a 3.5-foot deep snow drift from a 70-foot long by 22-foot wide driveway? A lot of time, patience, and a John Deere snow blower. I almost posted this under the "jokes" thread. No joke though, awful mess here in south central Wisconsin. This weather certainly proves that "nothing runs like a Deere. Thank goodmess I have one. We got 5" of snow Monday night and 15" of snow last night with 40+ mph winds - talk about a whiteout  I truly believe the wind picked up all the snow and just piled in onto my driveway . . .
:) Mike

Well we were quite lucky here, everyone was panicking and calling it the storm of the century, Snowmaggedon etc..... we were supposed to get 30cm of snow which is a lot for us really. We ended up with about 14cm.......don't know what all the fuss is about although our F150 did get stuck in the driveway !! Bloody thing is useless in the snow :(

It took awhile to dig out from the snow, but with the snowthrower and three neighbors, we cleared quite a few driveways and sidewalks. Hey we are used to the snow in Chicago. Although there are always a few knuckledheads that for get all commonsense when driving in the snow.

So you've got them too in Chicago? A guy blew by me today going about 70mph in the left lane in his SUV, saw him about two miles up off the road nose up along the median, smoke everywhere, the rocket scientist that he is..............

Guys don't kill yourself. Most of us are not springchickens anymore. I have a guy plow us out.

Just be careful out there Mike. We have gotten pounded much more than usual up here as well and with yesterday's little 12" contribution have little room left for the plow bloke to put our driveway snow. What a white wonderfest we are having this year.;)

We got 12-20 inches and heavy blowing. I did not mess with snowblower. With the cold air and having COPD I did not chance it. I called my local landscaper and they plowed my drive. It is worth the $25-30. They did a great job and I let my wife shovel the sidewalks.:) John

Sounds like he was gunning for the Darwin award, at least at the regional level.

Funny how some people think 4WD = weather invincibility. The worst is when they meet the turtles who drive too slow...bad combination.

Agreed, it's either blowing along in the left lane going 80mph with three inches of snow on the ground or in the middle lane, both hands on the wheel, white knuckles, going 30mph with the flashers on...............
