Yes, it is called the Suebian Knot (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suebian_knot).

I am cherusci and we wear our hair free flowing. Obviously, John gives the suebian tribe the honor of participating at the Battle of the Teutoburger Forrest. I admit that I do not remember seeing them there. But many tribes arrived late for the battle, generally to loot.
