John, thanks for the great photos. I only have one Trophy set, the Indian and the trader. These photos make me appreciate the quality of his work.

:D Well Russell,I don't quite know WHAT to say to that but in view of all the splendid new developments in the Rules & Infractions Dept.,I believe I'll just say You're Welcome,Enjoy !
I'd been meaning to throw some fresh meat out here for some time...even hoped some other might ...definitely meant to once that counter of views turned 400...but I must beg everyone's pardon as I've been through some excruciatingly eerie times lately and just haven't been able to raise a peep.
Tonight however I want to offer some pics of an exquisite Hussar figure(you'll likely be knowing Tommy Atkins acquired Hussar ) painted by Tommy Atkins, and please note as well as my crummy photogging allows the tartan! What you won't be able to see are the multiple underlying fine black lines merging in the green-assuredly the most insanely spectacular tartan painting I've examined first hand !
Due to the subject matter, this one is dedicated to Brother Bear aka Randy (I think)

Bless your heart! A most welcome return to the forum and post from OB.

I have wanted this VP set for sometime but thought it was no longer available. Your figure does not appear on the site. Is it new addition to the line?
Note canteen and spats color differences too.
Thanks so much.

VP line listed at www.fusilierminiatures.com You'll have noted the horsehair colour variation on the sporran as well and just be seeing if I'm a lert :D

Does anyone know where I can get the buffalo hunt set? Hopefully from a dealer in the US? Thanks

Jeff bringing up his hard-working camera in another spuriously-titled thread from a certain (uncertain actually) shady character & the arrival of another of this Regt. today led me to post these,Tommy Atkins "Specials" Muir of Stonywood's Battalion (Lowlanders for the '45)

And the reason Jeff and his camera deserve my especial Thanks is that he posted a photo of (I'm pretty sure) these very figures in his last EXCITING London Show report- the Stonywoods & James Crichton of Auchingoul's along with Regt.s Lally & Dillon-dreamy stuff for an oldboy-that and the fun of picking up rather more than a dozen of the figures in that picture (hoping for a dozen more :D) John

Very Nice. Do you ever have any damage problems with these figures from England? I have had problems with Alexanders Toy Soldiers, Steadfast, and Little Legion. This is largely due to poor packaging by the manufacturer not the US dealers. I am basically giving up trying to get English made sets.

Hello Randy,How curious ,my experience over the last 10 years has been that I received a number of damaged items from Domestic Dealers, indeed with one company the packing was so shoddy that I quietly stopped ordering from them at all-seldom even glance at their website. In this time I have received countless packages (hundreds & hundreds) from Tommy Atkins & others direct from the UK, AND ONLY ONCE WAS SOMETHING BROKEN ! the package was 1/2 crushed and as a result a fishing pole was snapped ,astonishingly the figure was unmarked! All the evidence indicated mishandling by the Royal Mail.I made the mistake of mentioning it to Mark Turner-he insisted that I return the figure for repair promptly gratis(which I didn't do since the figure displays very nicely-the pole set perfectly right back in place and until now only I had a clue...)
Indeed my prejudice is set and I have this motto "The Very Best Packers are Englishmen" David Hazell,The Turners and here in the States Graham Merkert have earned my (I suspect) very particular regard as the finest packers I've enjoyed.
I've often said to myself (usually ruefully) "a pity we never receive packages from ourselves."
If you've concerns and I'm sorry to hear that you do :( ,you might try my approach of firmly and kindly mentioning your concerns :) and failing that impressing your potential shipper with the possibility that you just might possibly be quite Mad & or insanely finicky :D John

STOP THE PRESS ! I've recalled another broken UK originating package!
a set of S&S Miniatures arrived with a seperated snare drum,HOWEVER,although the packer is in England,he is not "toy soldier people",sells beauty & health aids on eBay and happened to have a few sets to offer.
That, then and I've no wish to be unfair to the Royal Mail-for all I know that singular crushing incident may've occured here in the USA .John

My main complaint is about manufacturers who take a very nice figure and simply roll it up in bubble wrap and stick it in a box and as a result the figure comes with bent or broken pieces--e.g. rifles, bayonets, drum sticks etc. The bent parts always have paint loss which only gets worse when you try to bend them back into shape. The pieces usually end up with a kink in them which is impossible to straighten to its original form. How are Tommy Atkins packed? All of my English items have come from US dealers who have special ordered the items for me from England but have not repacked them and their outer packing came through in excellent shape. The best figure packing in my book is Britains, K&C, and John Jenkins--all use carved black foam. Unfortunately I do not have any local dealers with brick and mortar shops for the English makers.

That Stonywood's Battalion at the ready figure, came to me with a cardbord splint on the bayonet, tenderly wrapped in high grade bubble wrap nestled snugly in a small box, wrapped about in bubble wrap securing it within the shipping box,A OK.
To my mind the primary issues are;
1. Is adequate support supplied for delicate bits ?
& 2. Is the packet going to transfer the jostling energy as a whole ? or Is the soldier snugly wrapped so that no internal movement occurs seperate from that experienced by the box as a whole ?
Am I being comprehensible? Further ,there is a zen to restoring bayonets, muskets, swords etc. to their original shape-if the painting is fairly recent , even a curly-cue of a musket may be restored to apparently mint straightness sans paint loss.I'm thinking here of some Tommy Atkins Black Watch received some years ago from a US Dealer who shipped them to me without bubblewrap or indeed anything cushioning inside a small hard cardboard box apiece all within a larger box with I believe "peanuts":mad::( ! I should require several paragraphs of asterisks to recall what I said then about THAT ! Nevertheless,I was able to take those bayoneted muskets bent backwards around the figures or doubled and restore them to their original shape with no paint loss ! Believe it or Not :D John

Ah,see there,Micho has the rudiments of lesson 1 already :D I regret that I'm not presently accepting devotees  but I CAN run through lesson 1 with you and bestow your mantra, with which as an Academic ,I doubt not but that you are already VERY familiar..
so then
LESSON the FIRST
1.Assume the proper yogic position i.e. Get Bent
2. Intone this phrase "OH WAH TANA SIAM"
Note:this may require many thousands of repetions, but assuredly it is the key to the gateway of your enlightenment.
GOOD LUCK,Enlightened Master John
