Top five Films with air battle scenes (1 Viewer)

Memphis Belle
Flyboys
12 O'Clock High
Blue Max
Command Decision

Michael

Again no order-
The Blue Max
Hell's Angels
Battle of Britain
12 O'Clock High
Flight of the Intruder

I would add
Dark Blue World. A Czech movie it used some scenes from Battle of Britain and Memphis Belle

Ah now we get to one of my favorite genres, and movies about my first adult job.;)

Battle of Britain is my all time favorite, closely followed b:
Blue Max
12 O'clock High
Memphis Bell
Top Gun
and
Piece of Cake (which also borrowed from BoB).

Also worth noting are HUNTERS with with Roberts Mitchum and Wagner and some pretty nice Sabre air combat with F84Fs posing as Korean MiG's and JET PILOT with John Wayne.

Tony Scott went to great pains to try and make Top Gun as real as it could be, subject to the constants of film making. I still enjoy the interviews with the Top Gun instructors that flew in the movie describing their first discussion with Tony about how the original scripted air scenes called from some maneuvers beyond the capability of their aircraft.;) Yes it is a bit over the top but the air combat scenes for jet aircraft will never be done more realistically, distances adjusted for camera angles of course.

I don't recall how may air battle scenes it may have but Bridges of Toko Ri with William Holden and Mickey Rooney is a fine, but very sad, movie.

It is a very fine air war movie but the air combat scenes are a bit too obviously fabricated and don't rank in the top 10 for me.

You may be right and it's been awhile since I've seen it.

I suppose a movie in the same vein would be the Great Waldo Pepper.
