We got hit with the worst ice storms in memory over Saturday nite - Sunday morning. Fallen trees, downed power lines, long lineups at the few gas stations with power. Many stores and shopping centres are closed - too bad for last minute Christmas shoppers. The storm was bad enough to cause a power station to blow up making the skyline look like Baghdad during the Gulf War.

That's one they won't have back on line in a few hours. Temperatures will drop as an Arctic cold front moves in overnight.

Terry, you live in Canada, EH!.:) Now if this was Miami it would be a story.

Michigan is bad also. We lost power and they said it might be Friday before it is back on. Christmas bummer for our area. At least I can stay at my son's house about a mile away. They did not get hit like we did in the country. J:(

Sounds like Sandy from last year. Hope you stay safe and warm Terry. I never want to live through those two weeks again, ever.

Brad

It was a high of 63 here today. They were calling for 70 a couple of days ago.Hope everyone one is safe up north.

Thanks guys. I just got back from my 2nd attempt to get gas and food and it was much easier at 7 pm than at 1 pm. Still have heat and hydro.

Damage is erratic. Some areas nothing and some areas are cut off and impassable. Our sometimes Mayor Rob Ford is out and about and is doing a good job with the emergency and repair service organization. Temperature got up to freezing late afternoon for an hour and now heading to -17.

As for the downed trees - not too big a problem Gary - we all have chain saws or beavers up here. :smile2:

Unreal mate and unimaginable for me ive never seen snow, let alone a ice storm stay safe cobber.

Terry,

I am so sorry to hear it. I hope you and your loved ones stay safe and warm, and that everyone gets heat and power back soon.

Take care, I was in Dallas for training a couple of weeks ago when they were hit with that Ice storm and on Friday had to drive back to Austin, city was basically closed down, 4th largest city in the states and all the freeways abandoned, 7 hrs. to do a usual 2 hr. drive, Ice is sooo treacherous!

I hope this ice storm did not interfere with Torontos mayor in getting his supply of dope and alcohol!
Gary
