It's THAT time of the year again.... the first weekend in July and time for Le Tour.

Good new out of Holland last night was that Aussie rider from BMS, Rohan Dennis has blitzed the streets of Utrecht to win the converted YELLOW JERSY :)

This was an individual time trial, so today will be on with the team race .....

Looking forward to the next 3 weeks in front of the TV late a night seeing the scenery of France flash past :)

last year I was in Yorkshire for Day 2 !!!!

I watched it but time trials aren't my favorite thing to watch. I can't think he will be holding onto the Yellow Jersey too long.

Nothing like watching the TDF on a Sunday morning. The weather has turned and it's quite rainy as the riders are moving to Zeeland.

Looks like some riders may be in trouble as the Peloton has fractured.

Don't think that will help. Some like Nairo Quintana of Colombia (who I'm rooting for and is one of the favorites) is better in the mountains so he will have to make it up in the Pyrinees.

What a place to end a TDF stage. The shot from above with the HEAVY current under the bridge/locks was surreal...
I watch the TDF for the scenery, more than for the athletes... A visual spectacle for sure!

A heck of an eventful day with a terrible crash of over 30 riders, with the race being neutralized. When it did restart, Chris Frrome took the Yellow after Fabian Cancellara nursed his wounds from the crash. The last kilometer was one heck of a climb. Tejay Van Garderen of the U.S. moved up to 3rd overall while Nairo Quintana went from 44th to 17th overall. A good showing so far for Nairo.

When travelling in France for my hollydays, I always consult the Tour de France Diary, to avoid the region

:salute:::eek:

But for my friends who likes that, and likes "Toy Soldiers", have a look here

The Tour finishes in Cambrai today. Man I'd like to be there for that. Get to see some of the Tour and then off battlefield touring around Cambrai....win win!:salute::

Apparently today's route goes from Arras to Amiens, right across the battlefields.

Another great finish with Greipel winning at the wire over Sagan, who in the last couple of years has excelled at 2nd and 3rd place finishes. The status of the leaders remained relatively unchanged, for now.

Believe that was yesterday Rob. Today's stage goes from Abbeville to Le Havre.

A tragic end yesterday for Tony Martin of Germany. Two days after gaining the yellow jersey -- and you could see the sheer joy on his face and those of his teammates -- he broke his collarbone in a pileup and his Tour is over.

Yeah that's tough, he must be gutted.

Rob

A good day for France as Alex Vuillermoz made a late attack and won the 8th stage ahead of Dan Martin of Ireland.

Today is the team time trial. It's possible that Teejay Van Garderen of the U.S. may take the Yellow today. He's only 13 seconds behind.
