Although I do appreciate Jim's landscapes, my favorites of his work are admittedly the buildings that go with Glossies. Just unparalleled in my opinion.
Thanks for the photos, Andreas! I wasn't able to make it up to the open house. And for anyone who's never been, these shots give you a taste of what you can see at Hillestad's museum. I recommend a visit!
Yes, Jim builds these dioramas himself and actually some of the small ones (that I focussed on) might be for sale.
Seeing his dioramas several years ago got me hooked on this hobby. The time I visited his museum, I might have gone a little overboard with taking photos. But many of them can be seen on my albums on Treefrog:
