Hello all. As I mentioned in a post on another board, I'm new both to this forum and to collecting Toy Soldiers as well.

I spend much of my time in Los Angeles, and I was wondering whether there was a toy soldier "community" out here. Retail stores where I might be able to see figures up close, shows etc.

My particular interests right now are Modern Forces of Valor and Figarti, and Britains American Revoluion...although I'm starting to salivate over WWI figures as well.

Google wasn't much help, but I may not have been using the correct search terms.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Marksable - google "metal toy soldiers" and hold on. There are many dealers in Ca. among them Sierra Toy Soldier Company, Old Toy Soldier Home, Toy Soldiers of San Diego and on. Good luck and welcome to the forum. -- lancer

And Mark, I don't know how far you are from Irvine, but you might want to check out the West Coaster, which is the largest show held out your way, if I'm not mistaken. It's coming up in March.

I think Old Toy Soldier Home is one of the promoters; the show website is

http://www.thewestcoaster.com/westcoasterhome.html

Prost!

Thanks guys. Sierra is a bit far for me - probably 5 or so hours. But I think I'll definitely check out the West Coast show in March - Irvine is maybe an hour away from LA. San Diego can be anywhere from 2 to 3 hours depending on traffic. I have family there, with a newborn nephew, so I'll try to make a stop at Toy Soldiers of San Diego...and maybe even try to get him hooked when he's a bit older.

I've dealt with Bill Muesing and he's a heck of a nice guy. Never got to his store when I was on vacation there last year but hope to this year.

As far as collectors, why don't you send Carlos (desk11desk12) a private message. He lives in LA and has a great WW II collection and might be able to point you in some directions.
