Saw this movie recently on a bargain DVD. Shot in New Zealand, the plot is about a bounty hunter going after a fleeing Maori refugee.
Some nice shots of the NZ scenery but there are sections where the grass and ground are just too level and neat to be wild country.

Yeah it's not a bad flick and well worth a watch. Saw it when it came out 3 or 4 years ago now. It's set during the mid 1800's, when NZ was still being colonised. Can't comment too much about the flat cleared areas of scenery, other than land was being cleared for traditional farming all the time and not all of NZ was covered in forest, infact there are large areas covered in alpine tussock grass, which you see quite a bit in the LOTR & Hobbit movies.
