Tradition Henry VIII (1 Viewer)

I redid the right eye. The face was painted. The lower skirts and coat overhangs were all hollowed out. I used a series of increasing sizes of drills and scooped out the excess material.
I rebased the figure on a small wooden base.

This is the underside of the figure after scooping out the excess metal.

I completed the base and sculpted the shoes. I think that the figure is now ready for another full round of painting.

After a very long hiatus because I misplaced the dagger, I found it again and quickly glued it to the figure. Started to do final painting. Sorry about the pics. Will take better next time.

Hello Zach,

thanks for your comment. The pics are really fuzzy as I used my hp to take the pics, then edited them directly and sent a reduced file thru the ether. I think that this reduces the quality greatly.

I will be sculpting the shoes to give a square-toed effect before finaling this piece.

I finished sculpting Henry VII. Improved on his cod piece...:) Added some jewellery and a sliver of metal strip for the dagger strap and then painted him finally. Gave him back his dog, too.

Now that I have refurbished Henry VII, I took out an old LeCimier casting of Francis I and dusted it off. I decided to also refurbish him here. Here's the b4 pic.

All paints were oils. I started off by painting over with carmine red. The shadows were deepened with violets and dark browns. Highlights were winsor red with pale yellow added. Dark trim and stockings were prussian blue. Yellow edge trim was yellow ochre.

Both Henry VII and Francis I were shaded and detailed together. Real gold and silver paint were used sparingly. Highlights were in white. WIP.
