Tradition Kits (1 Viewer)

Gee now I am stuck for choice! Thanks Jeff, these guides are great. Of these units can anyone tell me which ones served in North America during the 1750s?

Brad, just found them on the web. http://www.britishbattles.com/tim-reese/morier/index.htm

A great site.

Jeff

Excellent, ta, Jeff!

I took a look over there, and if you check out the material for sale there, that's the same sort of thing I was talking about with Conny's site. Much of the uniform material available in printed form is available on disk by this or that editor, it makes collecting the material much easier than in the pre-Internet days, when you had to track down original prints.

In this case, $25 doesn't seem unreasonable for the whole Morier series on disk, and his illustrations were really good, from a painter's standpoint (even if his subjects all looked like goblins!)

Prost!

Those look some desperate unmarried Zulus you've got there.

That building isn't a local haunt for ladies of a certain age old profession is it? It would certainly explain the unmarried Zulus desperation to gain entry. :D;)

Great shots as always Joe.

It's possible they may think it is Simon but wouldn't count on it:rolleyes::rolleyes:....The Lt.

Joe, I got your email and your figures look excellent. I see you got some new ones right here. I'll post mine as soon as they arrive, which should be in a week or so according to Tradition. I hope the factory paintjob will be just as good as yours.

Do you also have any 24th from Tradition?

Those look very good! You know, from all the figures available in gloss (or glossy sculpts) I think Tradition are the best. They have realistic proportions and enough detail but look classic.

I asked the owner of Tradition if he plans any more ZW releases and he said he would like to do that, perhaps characters. I told him I wouldn't say no to some artillery or cavalry :D.

Which are married and which are unmarried?

KV, My Lord, don't you know these things?! The ones with the doo-rags are unmarried and the ones with the isicoco head ring are married. The isicoco was kneaded into the scalp as a resin and hardened...better than cornrows!

WTF? You learn all kind of strange trivia here. I did know about the ring though. Not that it was a permanent feature of the man's head more or less. Now I know why they stayed on during battle.

Hey, the older I get the more I find out how little I know.:D

The kits arrived in less than 2 weeks from the UK. Not bad considering the Easter Break. Having seen Tradition kits for the first time I can concur with others who have stated how little clean up is required. I am looking forward to working on them but it is going to be a long job. My inexperience ( I have only ever painted plastics) and my 7 month daughter will see to that.

So what did you get in the end?

Jeff

I got the grenadier officer, sergeant, and two grenadier privates loading in different posture. Also the officer and ensign with flag. Plus Robert Rogers and the Indian chief. I don't do dioramas but I thought this group would make an interesting Pre-British loss at Ticonderoga selection.
I had a better look at them today. They really are of good quality. Should my painting experience be a good one I would certainly make more purchases.
In the meantime I am going to seek some advice in the painting section.

To Davout71

I'm impressed by all he solid help you've been given. I paint Tradition figures and find them excellent to work with. Before painting I wash them with dish soap, rinse them and let them dry. For a primer I use a matt white paint because I find that white is the colour which needs the most coats to look right.
By the way Brad, I'm impressed with your painting. It's nice to see your work.

Finally, Davout71, I hope you'll show us your finished figures once they're done.

Thanks for your tip. So far I have only primed one figure and that has been in grey. I think I will do another in white and compare how they go when I do them side by side.

Just wondering, where do you purchase these kits? I go tho the chicago show but never see kits for sale. I have painted 20mm in the past and would love to paint 54mm to go with my trophy figures.

I buy mine from the Tradition shop in London, but I assume there must be a dealer or two in the US? If you have a look at their website www.traditionoflondon.com there is a list of retailers.
