Hello All,

I purchased several Tradition of London Crimean War British Infantry figures to paint for my next project. I think I would like to use Vallejo model paints because they have a pretty large line of colors. My problem is I'm not real confident mixing paint colors, afraid I'll never obtain the right color or be able to duplicate. So, I would like to paint using the standard available colors so I can duplicate the results effectively on many different figures. That said, do you experts recommend using Vallejo and then covering with a coat of gloss so I can obtain the glossy look? What else might you recommend? In the past I've used Humbrol.

Given this information could you recommend some colors for your standard British Infantry line around 1854 to 1856? Here's the colors I see, what do these transfer to in paint lines:

- flesh
- white (should I use off white?)
- real dark blue (almost black)
- red
- wood (for rifle)
- brown (hair color)
- gold/brass (shoulder boards, sword hilt)
- steel (rifle barrel, sword blade)
- blue (canteen)
- crimson (sashes)
- gray (blankets)
- canvas (bags)

Any assistance and advice you expert painters may provide is greatly appreciated.

Robert
