While sitting in a hotel room in a regional city trying to mark assignments, I started to think about how I could make my hobby even more expensive.

First World War GWR ‘Troop’ Train Pack - Limited Edition 1000 R3219DCC Ready

Any train fans out there with an opinion? I have 50 assignments left so that is 25 hours of marking and am keen for a distraction!

Is this independent of toy soldiers or are you looking for trains that will go your soldiers. If the latter, you need something in G scale.

As much as I love trains, it is perhaps fortunate that I have absolutely no room to indulge that passion. I would be completely lost, broke, divorced... -- Al

No - just as a backdrop and perhaps some 1/72nd scale figures. More likely a flight of fancy to distract me as I sit at my desk and weep at my inability to explain to a generation of students the difference between their, there and they're.

No woman would leave a man as universally admired as you!!

Your correct use of the three words and your lack of punctuation makes this hilarious on two levels! Will we discuss it in Brisbane when you visit?

HO scale might be better then or there is N gauge, which is smaller. Might look good as a backdrop.

Thanks - it may be silly to even consider such a development but it is an interesting option. I have flirted with other collecting ideas - diecast planes or vehicles being a couple - but to be honest, TS is not the only hobby that has prices that can surprise. I will think on it but it is always a matter of opportunity cost. I also would not mind collecting a Roman series at some point because I think I will finish up with Naps mid year once our dio is done and I cannot buy WW1 for the next three and a half years.

Ponder on these while up on the range.............:wink2:

Wayne.

I collect this scale, buit these are before the era I portray (1980s)

The WWI figures are also available separately as a pack of 6.

Ha! My wife has occasionally used different phrases to describe me, but I don't think 'universally admired' has been amongst them.{eek3}^&grin -- Al
