Treefrog Treasures and Minutemen Toy Soldiers will no longer be offering Country Honour Ltd. toy soldiers as at least one manufacturer has reason to believe that significant portions of their sculpts are being used as the basis of some Country Honour figures.
Sincerely,

Shannon Reuss & George Guerriero

Aren't these the same company? Typo? Can you explain?
Thanks,
Sandor

Sandor,

i believe they're referring to the same company. Having given the formal name, they then refer to in shorthand form. It's as if they defined the company so you don't need to use the formal name again.

Oops... read it wrong- I thought they were saying that Country Honor was stealing Country Honor sculpts- now I get it. It's a real shame, because I liked those figures- I wonder what sculpts were stolen.

What are the reasons to believe this?

Yea.... so do i ^&confuse^&confuse does anyone have anyother infromation ^&confuse is this the result of some legal action filed against Country Honor ^&confuse . I really was looking forward to future releases from them the figures seem pretty darn good and the nice prices made them even more so .. Regards Gebhard

Quite strange this one on a number of levels. I wonder What manufacturer it is?? Having seen some of the figures and bits and pieces from manufacturers that are identical and nothing was said when I raised these points one wonders if its a way to curtail cheap decent quality figures hitting the market.

I have looked at these figures and can't see an immediate resemblance to current or past figures well, not blatently but, it does raise again points which have been discussed recently about copyright and, the EA figures from K&C looking identical to airfix plastics. Opening this can of worms could affect quite a few IMO

I couldn't see any obvious resemblance either. I would like to hear an explanation.

There are certain poses for 18th cen./Napoleanic figures that are quite standard.Standing firing, kneeling firing,marching,etc..All the companies that do these ranges have all of these.

I have done some research, and so far I have found that significant parts of the highlanders are copied from FL, especially the officer. I think some of the ACW might be too.

That's not good.

Do Country Honour look at this forum?

Be interesting to see what they have to say.

Unless someone can prove that the figures in question are exact castings of another manufacturers figures or parts I don't think they have much of a case.

the opening "blanket statement" in the first post of this thread...co-signed by Sharon and George...is perplexing at best...I would almost wish they rather had discreetly removed the product from their shelves or just told us they were deleting this manufacturer from their stock...instead of leaving us hanging on particulars concerning possible copied poses...after looking at it for several days now...with no further explanation...I'm now curious as to what poses and from what manufacturer he is accused of plagiarizing so I could view them and make my own judgment...whoever complained...must be somebody "big"...to carry that kind of weight...

Agreed - would it be illegal to show us a few pictures of what exactly is the problem? Also, why pussy-foot around with inuendo? Why not just come out with who has complained - and show us what is being complained about? Seems straightforward to me. Johnnybach

A pose cannot be copyrighted. This whole question seems to have been based on conjecture and seems rather weird to me. Trooper

As a matter of law, that's not correct. A pose is a type of sculpture and sculptures are protected by copyright law. Copyright generally protects creative works and this is a creative work.

We don't know the full facts of the situation nor its legal implications. Moreover, just because I'm a collector or member of this Forum I don't feel that entitles me to an explanation.
