Mike,
Great post about the dealers. I have done plenty of shows although most were nearby. Five years ago I drove
from Brisbane to Melbourne (about 1,000 miles one way) and whilst the show was good after expenses it was
more like an advertising venture. Scary part was people coming up to me on first day of the show and telling
me how they had looked at my product, covered by cloth, the night before !
I once did 4 big weekend shows in a period of 5 weeks and a couple of days after the last one I woke up and
my back was so sore I could not move for a few days. Had been taking a lot of product and shelves.
Worst ever show was a 9 day show where I only took in about $750 and it cost $2,000 + to be there !! Another
show I set up at was cancelled about half an hour before opening due to not having right permit.
Have not done a show for a few years as being a husband and wife operation it affects the shop operation
too much. However thought your summary was a pretty good reflection of what goes on and the hard work.
Thanks also for the great photos.
Regards
Brett
