Have just returned home to NZ after a three week trip to the States, visiting my brother and his lovely wife. Wow what a great place, had a fabulous time and met some really nice people along the way. We started in LA and jumped over to Las Vegas, Grand Canon, NY, Washington, Boston, Maine and then back via San Francisco.

Even managed to get to a Red-Soxs game in Boston (sorry Yankee fans), explore the Intrepid aircraft carrier, spend a fantastic day in Gettysburg and visit Mt Vernon & Arlington Cemetry, plus squeeze in a visit to a couple of TS stores, including the Hobby Bunker. I also ate way tooo much and got a tan.

I have to say, I found Americans to be very polite, curteous and very helpful, which made the trip even more pleasant and enjoyable, despite all the security measures. Thanks a bunch, its a truly wonderful place and I can't wait to return.^&grin

Cheers Toddy

Toddy,

Next time, let your American Treefrogger friends know you are coming. I can't speak for those of us in the other cities, but I would have been happy to show you around New York, and could have arranged for you to meet up with several other Treefroggers from New York and New Jersey.

Glad you had a good time Toddy, and have to agree with you. On several trips to America I've always found American people to be open, warm, welcoming and friendly, couldn't ask for better hosts. Throw in great weather, great food and more beautiful scenery and historic sites than you can see in a lifetime and its the perfect holiday. I remember the young lady on the Disneyland gate would not let me in unless I said ' Thanks Darling' in the English accent she apparently loved so much!^&grin.

Can't wait to go back.

OH heck ... you were in Boston and Maine!!! I live in both places and I visit Matt at the Hobby Bunker all the time. I would have loved to have shown you the "TRUE" Boston, Bunker Hill, Lexington / Concord and shown you how to eat a Lobsta' in Maine. My good friend works at Mt. Vernon. Real glad that you had a wonderful time and saw some great places.

Funny that most "visitors" get to see the sites more than the locals do????^&confuse^&confuse^&confuse

Ummmm ... did the Red Sox win that game?

Hey Louis,
I go to NY City once or twice every year...and I have always wanted to see your collection (I've heard many things...). On another note, anyone live in San Antonio who wouldn't mind showing off their collection?

Sounds like a whirlwind Trip! Glad you had a great time. I enjoyed my visit to NZ back in 95 and my wife and I are really hoping to get back again. Glad you hit Fenway for a game as well its a great ballpark with a ton of history and character.

Thanks Dave and thanks to all of you who have taken the time to reply to this thread.{sm4} Yeah Fenway was even better than I expected, plus the Red Sox won 13 runs to 9 against the "Royals" I think. I would really have loved to have caught up with some of my fellow Treefroggers, but sadly we were really pushed for time, with much of our trip pre-plained with tours etc. However I appreciate the offers.

My visit to the Hobby Bunker was a highlight, however I only got to spend an hour in the store, which was a shame. Even so I still got to have fun and spend some $'s on some great TS items. The staff were really friendly and helpful too.^&grin

I have to say again we found people very friendly and helpful and would come back and visit in a flash.

Cheers!
