Its always good to get a hint or two about what JJ is planning. Fort William Henry (hereafter known as "FWH") artillery would be a great addition. But, I wonder what else he is planning to include in the FWH line. Not only canon and mortars in place, but how about being transported down the lakes by French batteaux? In fact French in a batteau would make a nice counterpiece to the Rangers in their whaleboat. Of course, what is the Siege of Fort William Henry without the massacre? Sick and wounded Brits and Provencials being tomahawked in their beds. Is the toy soldier world ready for that? Lines of prisoners being taken away tethered at the neck as is the prisoner in JJ's canoe? Historically accurate, but not traditional toy soldier fare. On the other hand, I would love to see JJ's interpretation of Hawkeye, Chingachgook, Uncas, Magua and, especially, Alice and Cora.
As for Ancient Greeks, I've long wondered why Romans have been made so much more often by toy soldier manufacturers. Mignot and Heyde did Ancient Greeks, but a long, long time ago. Britains Herald line included the five foot poses of Greeks which were nicely done, as well as a mounted figure which was really more Roman than Greek. But, none of those poses would fit into a phalanx. How can you play Sparta vs. Athens without phalanxes?? Atlantic back in the 70s/80s included Greeks in their plastic line; in fact made both Bronze Age as well as Iron Age Greeks. (Not to mention a Trojan Horse and a Cyclops to menace Ulysses). The Bronze Age Greeks were sold as "Trojans." I always thought that to be a marketing mistake as how many little boys could get away with asking their parents, when visiting a hobby store circa 1980, that they needed a box of Trojans?
But, until Conte issued his Spartans the toy soldier world really didn't have much to choose from in the way of Greeks other than those mentioned above.
