There was a moderate amount of Trophy items at the Chicago show room trading. I picked up the Defense of the Hospital at Rourkes Drift for a decent price, some Boer War-Sudan British in Khaki figures, an Egyptian artillery set and even a Maxim gun and crew at a bargain price.

The most amazing thing was seeing The Hobby Bunker selling the Victoria paddle steam, the smaller fun boat with Sudanese crew, and a dhow complete with a small cannon. They also had a large selection of Trophy sets as did Trains Galore & More. It was really a thrill to see the Victoria in person.

There was quite a bit of Trophy at the Trains Galore room but most of it was on the expensive side and I believe mostly Zulu. Fred Genard had a few sets, principally Sudan and Zulu. There is another dealer who has a box of Trophy sets but had not gone through them (he had only just received them I believe) so he was not yet ready to sell.

Here's hoping to see some more pictures of Trophy sets on offer.

Sorry but I neglected to take photos. Most of what I saw was boxed. The dealers are starting to pack up now to get ready for tomorrow so I will try to take photos on Sunday. One collector had several Town & Country figures, including the Beer Wagon, Hansom Cab and the Bus. I purchased a few figures from him at good prices. He also had the Victoria. I didn't ask how much he wanted.

Glad you got the Defense of the Hospital set. He had it for a very good price.

There was a lot of Trophy at this show some priced very high, but some very nice bargains. However no Zulus sets that I did not have.
So no Trophy finds.

But it was very nice to see the Victoria and the dhow in person. They were already sold on Wednesday night.

He was asking for over 3 grand for it, but I believe it was missing some figures and parts. But the sellers thought they had the missing parts.

Yes, very unusual. I was surprised at the amount of Trophy at this show. Was the beer wagon and other wagons complete. When I saw them they were in a box on the floor.

The Hansom Cab was complete. I don't think the Beer Wagon was as I didn't see the barrels. The Bus looked complete but he sold me two of the riders from the Bus, one with the Holmes cap (deer slayer I think it's called) and an Indian gent. That surprised me but if you don't ask...

I purchased six T & C figures from them so I was a happy camper.

I guess that I made my shopping rounds too early on Thursday morning as I didn't see any of those items. Hobby Bunker told me that they sold the Victoria for $3,900, the same price that Champs & Bums has been asking for on eBay. That's way above my budget but it was really great to see the model in person. Pictures do,it no justice.

One little nit pick that I had, most of the room dealers would only take cash, no credit cards. Does anyone really carry around $4,000 or $5,000 in cash to one of these shows?

Call me gobsmacked.

It's possible he opened late Thursday or Friday.

Regarding money, I never carry around that much. If I need cash, I go to the Bank of America across the street. I think the big dealers take cards or PayPal but the small dealers don't.

there was a lot of trophy. unfortunately for me not a lot of napoleonics. I was able to pick up the british charging set from the indian mutiny range as well as a few Napoleonic pieces. there were some boxer rebellion sets but I never was able to get back to that room. but sets were 250 for a set of 6
