Trophy Highland Square in the Sudan (1 Viewer)

Very good, sir. We are trying to figure out the best way to get from Chicago to Durban or Johannesburg at this point. Do you know much about the "Lodge at Fugitives Drift?" I understand the proprietor was murdered fairly recently. Quite a sad story as I understand it.

As far as the Shop in Milwaukee, I am sure any number of us could provide you with Paul's phone number and hours of operation if you need them. Being the only dealer in the US handling LL, I know he does a lot of business by mail.

It is a hellish flight whatever you do. Personally I would fly to London and then down to JHB. You may be able to fly out of teh States. Either way it will take 24 hours. Fugitives Lodge is very famous but justifiably so. A man called David Rattray ran it. He was a great raconteur and his descriptions of the battle were world famous. Prince Charles and the two young princes stayed there and were personal friends. I would think the emoney would be well spent. There is another lodge close to the Battlefield which is run by one of your countrymen. Ian Knight often runs tours and if you go to his website there is plenty of info. It is best to go with one of these guides. They know their way around and it undoubtedly makes your own trip more worthwhile. The Battlefields are a major tourist destination and so there is plenty of info out there. Islandwana and Rorke's Drift are undisturbed by development and look very much like they did 120 years ago. Even though the dollar is not as strong as a few years ago, it remains at about 7:1 USD:ZAR.
You will definitely enjoy your stay.

Hi Guys,
I've stayed at Fugitive's Drift the last 2 years and can highly recommend it.
Although David was sadly murdered jut about a year ago the family have decided to continue the business.
A guy named Rob is now the Chief Guide a nd he is every bit as good a raconteur as David Rattray.
I also did te Fugitive's trail from Isandlwana to the Fugitive's Drift and you can see why only mounted troops escaped, even then tough goimg.Oh and in 40 degrees C !!
Happy to share some photos if you wish. send me a pm.
Regards
CG
