I purchased this figure a few weeks ago. Trophy logo is stamped on the bottom side of base. The base is painted brown and appears to me to be its original color. I have never seen a Trophy figure painted with the deep brown color. Any info?

Yes, I have one. It was either customized by Trophy for or painted by Jim Hillestad for a Nile River Boat he was selling 15 to 20 years ago.

Trophy produced figures with several different colour, even for the same campaigns. This looks like a very early figure from the transition period Under Two Flags to Trophy that could well be the answer

Cheers

On further checking that deep brown color on the base is a colour Trophy used on the early figures sold with their range of Sudan/Nile gunboats and Dhow. Here are my Dervish gunners from the Arab Dhow, their base looks to be the same colour. Your figure does appear to be early 1980's, my Dhow figures must date to pre 1990 as the Dhow was removed from the Trophy range in January 1990.
