Does anyone have any information about Train sets from Trophy.
I have a handle on all the boats they made and all teh scenic sets, but I am not sure about any trains. I know Louis Badalato bought one off e bay a few months ago.
As far as the big sets go they did the following
CSS Leopard
USS Eagle
Steamboat Victoria
Nile Gunboat
Arab Dhow
HMS Lion

La Haye Sainte
Abandon The Hospital
Store at the Drift (two versions)
Peking Gate (Boxer)

ANy info or picture would be appreciated
Regards
Damian

Damian,
I'll keep the antennae up. I do recall a Boer armored set with engine a rail car that may/may not have been Trophy. Keep looking. Mike

Damian,
I believe that Louis' armored train was a Hicks Atwell with Trophy figures aboard. I'm leaning towards a big negative on any trains. Antennae still up.
Mike

I did find an older (2003) sale of aHicks Atwell riverboat and Sudan campaign Trophy figures on board. I don't know if the set was specially combined by both manufacturers.

I have tracked down a "Trophy" train. The collector who knows Trophy says the figures are definitely Trophy. He bought the train and figures from a Trophy dealer in 1985. He cannot tell me anymore than that.
It looks like a nice set but he is going to send me some better pictures.

Damian
Very nice! Post the photos when you get them and also any further info on who made the trains. Take care.

Hi Damian,

Thanks for posting the pictures of your armored train. It is certainly a special item to have in one's collection. Time and time again, I am impressed with what is included in your wonderful collection!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

The armored train is fantastic however it would be hard to display unless you could convince the wife to let you run it across the living room wall..........................................not likely in my house.

What a great set to have in your collection, can the train move on the tracks?

It can move, but the dastardly Boers have blown up the tracks in front and behind so trapping the train. Darned ungentlemanly if you ask me.

Young Winston was unfortunately not on this train when it left PMB. I think he may have overslept. Jim Hilllstead wrote an article about Winston and toy soldiers. He had a picture of a Trophy Boer War Train with young WInston in it. Mine did not have a young WInston unfortunately.

Damian's train looks better each time I look at his superb images.

Does anyone know what other figures of Churchill were made by Len Taylor ?

The only 2 figures that I know of are the Boer War figure and the mounted Lt. Churchill firing his revolver at a Dervish warrior at Omdurman.

Best, R.
