Have just caught True Grit.I normally do not think remakes are worth making and rarely enjoy them, but True Grit was really good. Excellent performances all round, stuck to the original story and script and very well filmed. I never thought this should be remade as it was John Wayne's finest hour, but this was thoroughly enjoyable and well acted.:salute::{bravo}}

I finally saw it and found it "grittier" than the John Wayne version. The ending of the new version is darker and satisfying. Fun hearing her call Frank James "trash."

I liked the remake quite a bit. Thought the whole ending sequence was better than the original. Still give the overall edge to the original, though. Hard to beat The Duke and Duvall but could have done without Campbell. In the remake, Bridges, Damon, and Pepper were great but the show was kind of stolen by the girl who played Matty. The Coen's did a fine job. -- Al

Found the remake to be every bit as enjoyable as the original. The girl in the latest version was far better. The art of movie making progresses thru time so it's not completely fair to compare the two. Like comparing BoB or Private Ryan with a war movie from the '50s. Both are great flicks IMO. Chris
