Nick has the pictures up of the new VN Marines and NVA figures. Very very nice indeed. I hope the next sets are US Army and VC. But these are a tremendous start. Or, as we used to say "TSSD Number 1"

I bought a few bags of their new Vietnam figures this afternoon.
On Saturday, the conversions begin.
Tomorrow, I need to buy more band aides.

Denver please post some pictures when you get them converted.

Received my order of Vietnam US Marines other day.My only quibble is the usual, could we just have a plain FLAT base or at the most a base in the style of Beau's Confederates.Other than that I like them and hope sales will be good enough for a second set with some poses such as a recognizable LT and Radioman,Medic.Hopefully other subjects such as Green Berets,Viet Cong,Arvins,Montagnards,ROK Marines,Chinese Advisors, would also be given some consideration.

A nearby dealer shocked me with a call that they had gotten some of the new figures. I beat feet over there after work and grabbed two bags of each type. The Marines are in the "traditional TSSD" style, very animated and individual. The NVA are more "generic" (faceless Commie $%^&*&%). I have one set of Marines dismantles for conversions. Several of the Marine have separate arms which allows easier cutting.

By the way, Nick must be catering to the convertors, instead of buying all the extra weapons from TSSD, they included six pieces in EACH bag. NVA gets two AK47, two SKS carbines, and two RPG-2 ("B-40 rockets" to the GIs). The Marines get two extra M16s, two M60s (nicknamed "the Pig") and two M79 grenade launchers.

General impression; good sculpting, nice casting. I rate them a good value for the money. Buy them until it hurts!

Hey, this is what I do to standardize the inconsistent "BASE" problem.
It really does even out the playing field for most figures.
Sorry the up-loader is acting up.

Having torn into several of these figures now for conversions I noted that the NVA are often as big as the Marines. It's not a racist comment, but the Vietnamese are generally smaller people, slightly built. That is especially true in the 1960s when the average Vietnamese citizen of North or South wasn't getting much decent food to eat. The NVA should almost be at 5/6ths scale to the Marines.

The NVA had a number of Chinese and half Chinese in their ranks.

Here are some crude shots of some of the figures as the conversion process stands. Lots of gap filling and neatening to be done so don't judge too harshly (yet)
