All,

I love Thanksgiving! We have always had tamales with Thanksgiving and I was just wondering if any of you all have any regional "add ons" to your Thanksgiving feast. Yes, tamales...mmmmhmmm! And I am old school and still love cranberry sauce out of the can...sliced up!

Oh, by the way do the Aussies have Thanksgiving? Maybe some Ostrich stuffed with Kangaroo stuffing...I don't know just wondering. I know the Brits don't celebrate Thanksgiving or the Fourth of July. But, uh is there some sort of English Tanksgiving?

PS: Sometimes we cook a Turducken!

John...

I have never made a turducken...

but I have a Chinese girlfriend that loves them and puts one on the table every year...
they are absolutely weird looking when cut into...
not a favorite on my table...

but...

I will put a dent in your tamales if I get an invitation...^&grin

I like duck...I like chicken...and I like turkey...

but they always look unappetizing when stuffed into each other...

my mother used to put a bowl of sauerkraut on the table for her father...

she was German...Schroeder...

nobody ate any except him...

Mike,

Dayum that's one heck of an action picture! Man I can almost smell it! Mike, I thought I met your girlfriend at the TTSS...and she was not Chinese! What gives Mike? You are always welcome to come and put down some Tamales my brother!

When I was a kid living in Colorado, our neighbors where British and the Missus of the house made a Thanksgiving feast that had a English twist to it. I remember she made her mash potatoes differently. I think know she made them twice baked. Man, they were good.

No mate we don't celebrate either i have boned a many feather friend to stuff them inside each other for the public at Xmas time a pain in the "A" but they sell well.

Wayne,

So no Thanksgiving? No pilgrims and Indian breaking bread together, huh? Well, is there a holiday next week at all or is it business as usual? But, let me get this straight...for Christmas you guys put a turkey through the butt of another turkey to sell? Did I read that right?

When I was in Japan, I invited one of my Japanese Military friends over for Thanksgiving. He tripped out over the celebration. Hence, no Thanksgiving in Japan.

No holiday next week and no mate boned a Turkey duck and a chook and stuffed them inside each other in obvious order ^&grin
I once had to bone 150 quails for a posh restaurant never again.

Hey TSB,

Any Jersey flavor added to the Thanksgiving? Tell me it just not the regular old traditional Thanksgiving up there!

John

TSB,

I LOVE lasagna, the meat, the pasta, the cheese, the sauce...mmmhmm! Potatoe Knish? Never had one of those before. Jewish delicacy?

John from Texas

It must be a Texas thing because for Thanksgiving we go with:

18 pound turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing

12 pound bone-in ham

1 dozen brats with German mustard and sauerkraut from the German Deli in Dallas

Hummus, Tabouli salad, rice and pita bread from Jerusalem Grill in San Antonio

Yes Deli food, I forget that unless you live in NY, NJ, or CT or maybe parts of FL you've never had a good bagel, corned beef or pastrami sandwich, matzo ball soup, knish, or a blueberry blintz. And it's not sauce it's "Gravy" :)

Mike,

That is too funny, hey did you hear what happened in Austin? Pretty crazy!!!

John your neighbor

I was gonna be going to Bastrop...
then Austin today....
until Monday...
an annual golf trip...
but I cancelled...
am I missing more than that...
what happened?

Mike,

Gunman opened fire at APDHQ, The Consulate and a Federal building at 2:30 AM. APD had a shoot out with him and he is dead. APD checked out his mini-van and suspected a IED in the car. They dragged gunman across the street and upon dragging him noticed a "vest" on the guy. So, the bomb squad was called and I-35 was shut down. This all happened over by 7th Street and that Shell station you see off I-35.

That was then, now I-35 is open and I guess there is the all clear. No APD or civilians injured.

Talk about Black friday.
