Will 2009 be the year where Figarti will release a waterline U-boat?

I don't think this is a possibility at all. Stranger things of course have happened, but I believe Rick covered this in Chicago that it would be way too big and that it was not in the upcoming plans.

A type XXIII would not be excessively long at 1/30 or 1/32

A year or so back we had a long thread discussing ways to make this possible, I felt it could be done in a series, say the first is the conning tower center section, second either the front or rear with additional crew and armament and so forth.

Love the idea

I am not saying I don't like the idea!!! I was just relaying the gist of what we learned in Chicago at the Figarti lunch.

With Rick, you never know, he builds some outstanding sets!

I considered a U S "S" boat in the scale,,three fit together sections,,built a 1/72 version instead but reconsidering.

Just how long, in inches, would a Type VII or XXIII boat be in 1/32 or 1/30 scale? -- lancer

A Type VII in 1/32 scale is just under 7 feet long

Whew! I think one can safely write off the Type VII and even the XXIII is going to stretch probability in many collectors homes, room wise. Perhaps the sectional dio, ie. the conning tower, is the way to go. Thanks for the swift answers everyone. -- lancer

If we do not get a U-Boat, the crew would be nice.

Maybe Control Room / Bridge / Conning Tower, Torpedo Room and Engine Room sections.

As a side note. If you come to the Toy Soldier Show in Chicago next September, you might want to take a day trip to the Museum of Science and Industry to see the exhibit on the U-505. The exhibit has really been improved over the years. I would post the link but I am having trouble posting it.

It is well worth the trip.
