Did you see this?? This guy donated $3 Million to UConn, isn't 'consulted' when a new coach was hired, and now wants his money back.

I guess $3 million doesn't buy what he thought it did...

This guy should be patient. Depending on how UMd. (former UConn. coach's new job is Head Coach for the Terps) does next season, UConn. may be able to rehire the former coach! -- Al

For the record....anyone who chooses to donate $3 million to Treefrog will be included on ALL discussions pertaining to the hiring of our snow plowing services.

Just sayin...

These are public universities so I don't how they get away with calling the shots just because they give the school money. Oregon is the most shameless example. It would be like giving a Congressman a million dollars and expecting him to do everything you ask. Oh wait.

Having played college football, public or private doesn't matter. The relationships between The Big Boosters and adminisration and coaches is very important. Any major decision can have an impact on fund raising. I know some of the big boosters at Notre Dame and UCLA and no coaching changes gets done without them knowing about it. Most of the time its the boosters that come up with the money for coaches buy outs and incentives.

Truer words have never been uttered! Ed hits the nail on the head. As to me, i was a part of Terps football my 4 years in school on an athletic scholarship. I had the same rules/regs as the players. I also went through a coaching change and I can tell you, it is not always the "best man" hired......I will leave it at that.

As they say, Money Talks, BS Walks and that holds true in a lot of things.

Side note, anyone remember the Betting scandal at U of Maryland football in 1995??? I will only say, I am glad I graduated that summer before the "suspension season" and I will leave it at that!

I'm a little confused here? Are you saying you were a player or some other capacity? You don't have to say what the other capacity was- the underlying questions being- did you play ball for the Terps? Just curious.
