Hi folks. I recently picked up what I believe to be a rare item but am not familiar with the trade mark of this Russian manufacturer in order to research it. Although the base identifies this as no. 3 of 150, I was told by the dealer that this was actually a pre-production model and was not actually produced beyond the prototypes, so I'd like to investigate that further. Any help identifying this manufacturer is appreciated.

are you kidding us sir Scarlet? you aren't even foing to show us the figure?

I ihave no idea- but this is the place to ask that is for sure.

I have some Signed Russina figures- one even looks like it could have been a master for First Legion...? I actually got them from changing guard auctionns and they are very nice.

Gosh, you're right...that was a little selfish of me. Here's the piece; it needs a little restoration. I have repaired the minor damage. There is a little paint loss, but I'm ok with that. So here it is...let me know what you think.

I have no idea who made it but I do know it sure is a cool looking piece. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Nice piece, looks like a great find, hope you got a great price too!!

Anyhow, not a Russian expert, just an admirer.

My first thought was that it might be an AeroArt mark, but after checking at their site, I'm not sure. However, I'd contact them and send them your pictures, and see if they can identify it. Their online contact form is at http://www.aeroartinc.com/contact/ If anyone can identify the mark, it would be Thor and his staff.

Prost!

Thanks Brad...good idea..I'll do just that. I am pretty sure it is not Aero Art, as their Trade Mark is HR (don't ask me how they came up with that), but as you say, they still may be able to identify it.

Actually, that might be Cyrillic, not Latin. There's an image of their base markings at this page: http://www.aeroartinc.com/articles/about/ They note that they include the double-eagle trademark, the number, sculptor and painter. The example shows the "HR" conjoined monogram, but also another monogram that looks like Latin "A" and "B" conjoined, but it occurred to me that both monograms might be Cyrillic letters.

Either way, I'll be curious to know what you find out about the coach. I've seen a similar piece once, which Thor Johnson brought the MFCA Show four or five years ago, painted to a high connoisseur style. It was an 18th century coach, perhaps Catherine the Great's. The work on the panels was fantastic. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of it.

Prost!

Of course, you are right. The trademark is no doubt based on whatever the Cyrillic transliteration of the company is (even though it does say "made in Russia"! heehee). I emailed Thor today, so we'll see if he has any response.

Again, thanks for your suggestions.

Yo Troopers, hope you dont mind me joining in on this thread so not to take it off. I always look at the Russian Connoisseur figures. Some are spectacular, and some like their single World War 1 & 11 figures dont think they are as good as Chas Staddens, only an opinion guys dont freak out lol. But just spotted this 90mm Russian Knight, now I dont think this would look out of place in my Stadden collection:rolleyes: lol. Think this is stunning something special about the old Knights pity Chas Stadden only made three, but to see a Russian 90mm WOW.
Bernard.

Mystery Solved: with some assistance from Aero Art and the retailer where I purchased this piece, we discovered that it was sculpted by Andrei Rogachev and painted by Tanya Panteleeya. It was to be produced and distributed by Pennant Minatures but ultimately was never commericially produced. This is a pre-production prototype (1 of 3 apparently) and the heaviest bloomin piece I've ever seen; everything is metal, including that huge base (no more gym for me; I'll just lift this a couple of times a day).

Anyway, I am delighted with the piece (expect to see it incorporated into some of my dioramas). And thanks, Brad, for the suggestion to contact Aero Art. They were most helpful and I am looking forward to patronizing them.

Excellent, glad you were able to get to the bottom of it!

That's interesting-they seem to follow a similar convention with the stamp as Aero Art does, identifying the sculptor and the painter. I wonder if all of the Russian makers do. "AR" is easy enough; the middle cypher must be Tanya's, in script.

It is a great piece, to be sure!

Prost!
Brad
