Don't get me wrong, the British (and more importantly the Scots) have produced some of the greatest military leaders of all time, including Wellington (wasn't Arthur Wellsley protestant-Irish?),

Louis, although the Duke of Wellington was Irish-born he is famous here for one quote on his Irish background "being born in a stable does not make one a horse". (I'm sure the Christians amongst you may have a take on the stable issue that he didn't consider with that put down). Anyway, a good military leader but an indifferent Prime Minister, and not my favourite Irishman.

The new British and Canadian stuff is absolutely fantastic. I agree with that earlier thread about Pegasus Bridge, it would make a great diorama. I would break my Horsa Glider out of storage and set up a massive diorama if Andy did do the bridge. Andy, however, seems a little leary of going all out on the British stuff. I've noticed that several of the prototypes he declined to put into production for fear of lack of interest are British vehicles like the Bedford QL Radio Command Car and the Bedford Troop Carrier Truck. I guess he isn't sure that the American market (except for hard core fanatics like me) would buy the stuff. Lets prove him wrong and get him to make us some more of this great stuff!

I think Louis has a point. I don't think people (at least in the US) are gung ho about the British stuff, which I understand. However, I think the Carrier and Staghound will be very popular, just because they're neat vehicles. I remember when I was at the symposium I asked Andy innocently if he was going to be making British stuff and was shocked when he said yes. I don't blame him for being concerned about how well it will self. But I hope it does well and would love to see more. But I'm excited about what's coming out. Conversely, I'm not that excited about the US issues but will probably pick up the parachuting troopers, just because it's so different.

Dear Cannonfodder,

Wellington was also famous for a quote about his troops, which I will paraphrase as "I don't know if the French are afraid of them but they sure scare me". I always thought he was ungratefull to the men who raised him from noble poverty and service in India to the highest level of honor and privilege short of the throne. However, he was a great general, whether or not he accepted his anglo-irish birth.

As to Brad,

I also feel like Andy has pretty much gone as far as he needs to with the both the American paratroops and the Waffen SS. I think perhaps he might want to shift his focus to regular G.I.'s and Wermacht figures, like he has begun to produce Canadian and regular British troops instead of only commandos. I also agree that those parachuting paratroops are awesome and different, and a must purchase.
