Guys, a couple of new series you may be interested in.

Tomorrow night on C4 there is a new drama/docu series called ' Nelsons Navy:Back from the dead, which reconstructs life in Nelsons Navy from evidence take from 350 recently exhumed bodies of Sailors. Apparently it has some impressive and gory reconstructions.

Monday night 6.30 on BBC2 we have ' Reel History of Britain' which sees Melvin Bragg explore 20th century British History through rare footage from the British film institute . The first ep concentrates on the biggest movement of British people ever, the Wartime evacuation operation. Wednesdays ep comes from the Queens Lancashire regt museum in Preston and looks at WW1.

Cheers for the heads up Rob. Had missed these

Also coming up on September 25th the Scott version of "Gettysburg" on the Military History channel 531. Trooper

I just watched the first episiode of 'Nelsons Navy Back from the dead' and I don't suggest you eat whilst watching it. It studied six bodies exhumed and in graphic detail and reconstruction showed just what happened to each of them. From falling to the deck from the Top mast, flying splinters, a Gun Carriage recoiling over your big toe (!{eek3}) to the ghastly Horrors of Scurvy and Syphilis it served up a menu of Horrors that would have any Coast dwelling landlubber heading inland at a rate of knots. I'm not sure which was most likely to put me off my lunch more , the eleven year old boy having his leg amputated, the guy with scurvy whose gums swelled up out of his mouth or the guy who was cut across the face with sword or the guy with Syphilis whose body and mind fall apart over a matter of weeks.

Lovely stuff! {eek3}:wink2:

Next week we have 'Crusaders back from the dead'...the mind boggles!

I watched this back myself last night, life was certainly tough back then unless of course you were an officer living the life of luxury.
Did enjoy it so cheers for pointing this out as had missed it in the tv mag, looking forward to the Crusades one I imagine there will be some equally gruesome injuries and deaths!:salute::
