Here are some upcoming XH / Xuanhua miniature releases which look pretty interesting to me.





I’m wondering if anyone can help identify the figures I’ve marked 1, 2 and 3.

My rough guess is that 3 may be some sort of general mechanic or vehicle crewman. 2 looks like he might be a tanker or vehicle crewman wearing an unusual cap — possibly even a captured Soviet-style winter hat? And 1 may possibly be Luftwaffe, but I’m not sure.

Does anyone have a better read on these figures, their uniforms, or what period/unit they might best fit?

To me, it looks like the following:

1. Panzer crewman from 3. SS-Panzer Division "Totenkopf" due to the stylized Totenkopf on the cap (I'm pretty sure I've seen a picture or two like that of 3. SS troops). He's wearing a fur lined leather jacket common on the Russian front. Pants are typical grey winter parka trousers.

2. Panzer crewman wearing white parka top and grey parka trousers. Looks like he's got a sweater underneath and the cap looks to be a German issue winter headgear that went with the parka.

3. Stug or Panzer crewman wearing a field grey panzer wrap underneath black leather U-Boat jacket and grey leather U-boat trousers. The top could also just be a custom leather Panzer jacket. The leather uniform was popular with Panzer troops for its durability and protection. There's some famous pictures of 12. SS-Pz.Div. Hitlerjugend Panzer IV crews in Normandy in full leather outfits.
