Those polish pilots certainly had the red mist when they flew. There are a number of reports and documentation on friendly fire incidents with the poles involved. trigger happy and aggressive.

Thanks for the link, Rob. Its a shame he was killed by friendly fire, but it sounds like he lived well for the 41 years he had.
