USAF-01 - P51D Mustang, “GRIM REAPER”, Capt. Lowell Brueland, 9th Army Air Force, 194 (1 Viewer)

Very nice, but as you point out it needs a pilot or ground crew to complete the scene. Robin.

Great plane. Love my JJD P-51.

Until John releases his pilot that sits in the cockpit, I'm planning to use one of the really nice W. Britains pilots as a stand in. Size is perfect.

Another member posted pics of this combo and they look great together.

The JJD P-51 is decent, but it’s not his greatest aircraft model either… Certain aspects of the tooling seem more in line with his earlier aircraft models than his more recent ones, and the overall look of the JJD P-51 has always seemed “off” to me when compared to the real thing. The wing dihedral, for one, is way too steep, the rivets are oversized, and it lacks some of the finer paint details and stenciling as well… See my photos below of a real restored P-51 (also painted as “Grim Reaper”) to see what I mean.

That said, the excellent W. Britains USAAF bomber crew figures make excellent pilots to accompany the JJD P-51 😎
