An interesting film clip from Iwo Jima.

Note;
- use of an LVT to move the 105mm howitzer. The volcanic ash on Iwo was like fine gravel and made it hard to use many trucks, etc.
- the camouflage paint job on the 105mm howitzer. Most commonly associated with 3rd MarDiv, varied on a unit-by-unit basis.
- the Jackets on the Marines. Iwo in February 1945 was cool and wet for the first days of the battle. The Marines had been issued Army M1941 field jackets for their troops.
- the use of a K-Bar to open the shipping containers - when the ammo tubes got wet the cardboard swelled and didn't always open neatly.

Thanks for posting the combat videos. I never saw any of the raw footage before this post.

Gary,
Thanks for posting! The last couple of minutes were sobering.
Semper fi!
