Hi Guys,

Me again, with a few answers…comments…and anything else that comes into my tiny brain.

1) K&C Warbirds Here’s the latest update…

We’ve been in touch with two particular companies in China about making aircraft models. Actually as I sit writing this I’m waiting delivery of some samples from one of these outfits to assess the quality and potential.

The other factory has been a bit tardy – I’m still waiting for price quotations…never mind samples!

I’m still considering a couple of other options – so watch this space!

2) K&C KRIEGSMARINE

Thanks to Pierre for the suggestion. The problem with naval figures is they really need a ship model to “come alive”. This was one of the reasons K&C considered…did a lot of work on… and then dropped our “Pirate” idea. What good are pirates without a pirate ship?

By my rough reckoning even a German “E” boat (torpedo boat) would be about 4 feet long in 1:30 scale… a “U Boat” over 6 feet long, the Bismark roughly 35 feet long. Now, I know Pierre was not asking for those items but my problem is that I would love to make one!!!

However I’ll see if we can’t do some naval related figures in the future.

3) Welcome to Digger

A big welcome to “Digger” – sounds Aussie to me – to the greatest hobby in the world.

4) “NEILSON” not NEILSEN or NIELSEN

Brad, you of all people spelling my name wrong! Everytime people use the Scandinavian spelling for me it gives the wrong impression. K&C Collectors who’ve never met me imagine a strapping 6 foot 5 inch Viking with flowing blond hair and a magnificent “Aryan” look. Unfortunately I’m a very modest 5 foot 8 inch Scotsman with short “mousey’ hair and legs to match!

5) K&C American Civil War

Definitely no plans to get back “into it” as we only just got “out of it” last year!

6) “Tempest”…“British Commando”…“Honour Bound”…

Like all you guys I’ve been really interested in the posts from the above three companies who are bringing out 1:30 scale WWII stuff in 2006. Obviously, I have more than a “passing interest” in what they’re up to. But all of a sudden they’ve gone all bashful and quiet. What’s the latest…does anyone know…any “scuttlebutt” out there?

7) Upcoming Release Dates

At the moment our K&C release schedule is as follows:

JANUARY --- The “NEW” LAH releases

FEBRUARY --- The Court of CLEOPATRA Ancient Egyptians

MARCH --- AFRIKA KORPS

--- and possibly some new American Rev. figures

APRIL --- TO BE DECIDED

MAY --- British 8th Army

Well, as they say, that’s the story so far. Adios for now…

Andy C.

Sorry Andy, maybe I had some Scandinavian women on my mind at the time:D

Dear Andy,

I am thrilled to hear about Warbird samples from the first factory. If you could post photos of the winning samples when you have decided, all of us aircraft aficionados would really appreciate it. I don't know if you saw the thread about what our friends the Nevilles added to the book, but they have provided me with a partially finished Gloster Meteor to show the production techniques your old factories used when producing the warbirds. I can't wait until it arrives so I can see an unfinished version with my own eyes.

Your friend,

Louis

Andy, just wondered when and what is in the works for the Napoleonic line for 2006, or are you taking a brief rest from all the new releases. Also, did you ever bring forth to the table my idea of medical/field hospital scenes for the Napoleonic range?

Cheers
Wellington.......:)

Dear Wellington,

Andy did some fantastic stretcher team/medical mule & handler/field medic sets for his Seaforth Highlander line back in the late 1980's/early 1990's. I would love to see your field hospital ideas in both the Napeoleonic Range and WWII, as the medic stuff revisited with Andy's current extraordinarily high level of quality would be something truly impressive.

Regards,

Louis

As an aside, I noticed Andy is only a Private First Class. Regardless of the number of posts, doesn't owning the entire company warrant the title "Commander in Chief" or at very least Regimental Adjuntant (the post he held in the Hong Kong Volunteer Regiment).

Since the name of the company is "King" and Country, maybe something more royal is in order.

Sorry, even though he owns King & Country he has to earn his stripes on the forum like everyone else. After all I own the forum and I'm only a Sergeant 1st Class:p.

Shannon

As a fellow Sergeant First Class, I think we have to defer to the orders of the ranking officer at the forum, First Lieutenant Jazzeum, he believes Andy is entitled to a royal title (is Jester a title?).

Oh yeah. I do not like the use of army ranks. Even if there is some inter-service overlap. I am a retired MMCS (SW)(MTS) USN (Ret.), which translated for you ground pounders means - Machinist Mate Senior Chief Petty Officer, USN, Surface Warfare Specialist, Master Training Specialist (Retired), E-8, and I do not appreciate the army rank. I know this is toy soldiers, but....:p Michael

And you guys better have a sense of humor :D And when can we expect any new Napoloenics... "Sergeant" Michael

Umm hmmm. I knew someone would object--and you were the first who came to mind Michael. :p Considering my dad and brother are both Air Force, I could have been swayed that way, but...Army it is.;)

How about ranks in the Roman Army. Then you and I could be Centurians, Shannon. Brad is probably well on his way to being a Tribune, and by 2007, dare I say emperor.

Oh and also it would be nice to see them in campaign dress a little dirty and ripped up like they would be on campaign not like parade soldiers. maybe with some foraged stuff on their back backs and we also need more french foot soldiers also. maybe some light infantry and could you give them some of those home made water bottles also the ones that look like a squash on a rope if you know what i mean.

WELLINGTON

PS FISHHEAD....Do you know whats in the works for the Napoleonics?
I want to also collect American Revolution stuff but its hard just keeping up with the Napoleonic series....

Can't wait to see the new figures in the Afrika Korps and the 8th Army series.

Those are two great series and I'm quite surprised to read that the AK one is underestimated as it is because of that one that I choose to start collecting K&C.

Pierre.

A 35 foot long Bismarck? That really would separate the men from the boys. Just imagine the box that it would come in.

One question I have for Andy and the Napoleonic Collection is shouldn’t there be some Fusilier soldiers for the 3rd Line Regiment. My understanding of French Napoleonic Regiments is that they would have had 1 company of Grenadiers and 1 company of Voltigeurs. The rest of the regiment would have been made up of Fusilier or Center Line companies depending on your definition. Andy has provided us with some great Voltigeurs who are unfortunately going off to the sunset. The Grenadiers are also very impressive. I was wondering if anybody has heard any rumors about some Fusiliers for the 3rd Line Regiment coming out next year? By the way if my understanding of the formation of a Napoleonic French Regiment is wrong please let me know to further my education.

I also say bring on the field hospital set. I was really busy with work when Wellington suggested this idea. I want to take the opportunity to say I think it would be a great idea to have a couple of sets showing what happens to the wounded. Great idea Wellington.

Louis cannot wait for your book to come out. Thanks in advance for all your hard work.

Regards,
Old Guard

So here's my idea. Bring on the 35 foot Bismark, then the Hood. Can you in your widest dreams see a fleet of K&C WWII. It would take a rather large building to display them. Heck, you could even put motors on a 35 footer and run about the lakes here in Minnesota. That would bring some attention to yourself. A fleet of 30 to 40 foot scale replicas advancing on a small group of beer drinking fishermen. Now that I would like to see. :D Michael

Oh yeah, what are the next Napoloeonics going to be? (I am going to end all of my posts with this phrase until I find out. I am just a stuborn old bas%*^d):)
