We are pleased to announce the start of the pre-order for our latest Stalingrad creation, VEH003 SdKfz 232 8 Rad Schwerer Panzerspähwagen. Though our vehicle was specifically designed as part of the Reconniassance Battalion, 16th Panzer Division, 6th Army at Stalingrad, it will be perfectly at home in any early-mid war German toy soldier collection. Continuing to build on our established track record of continuous innovation for which we are rapidly becoming well known, VEH003 is simply an outstanding model that has drawn upon the lessons of our first effort. Some features of the model are:

  • Copper "bedstead" Antenna
  • Fully rotating turret
  • The gun raises and lowers
  • The commander's hatch opens and closes
  • Full bodied crew figure may be displayed inside or outside of the vehicle
  • All accessories are separate parts and can be configured by the customer
  • The flag on the aerial is removable
  • Fully detailed undercarriage

This will be a much shorter pre-order than was the case with our Stugs and VEH003 will be shipping on/about February 10th 2010. Our much beleaguered Stugs need reinforcements, so this will hopefully provide you all with something new to argue about! :D

We sincerely hope you like it!

Best,

Matt, How many separate attachments are there? and do they need to be glued on the AFV to stay in place could you elaborate on this? Thank you Frank.....PS this is another excellent AFV definitely on my order list:)

Hi, Frank,

There are four rolled up pieces and I think 2 helmets and 2 bags. All are loose pieces and in the photos shown below, nothing is glued on to the model. So you can place them at various points without gluing them, however, if you move the vehicle the rolled pieces will fall off obviously. As a collector, what I would do is to use that blue gum tack stuff to hold the rolls in place. It will hold them where you want them without being permanent. The helmets and bags just hang from various points, so they don't need to be glued at all. Also, the aerial is a separate part and comes off, hence how you get the bag to hang from it and get the crew figure inside and out of the vehicle.

Hope that answers your questions.

Best,

Matt

Thanks Matt,That's a good suggestion to use a temporary adhesion method...Best regards Frank

:D I need 2-SDKFZ-232 *-Wheel Rad, for my DAK Collection, N.Africa! Maybe you could RE-Paint 2-Vehicles for me? I'm SERIOUS! CIAO!

Thanks to those who are pleased with the vehicle. Yes, at $300 it's not cheap, but then again, you get what you pay for. And in those rare circumstances, you sometimes get a whole lot more than what you pay for...;)

I forgot to post an image of the model showing the undercarriage. Maybe not so important for some and doing a flat bottom lacking any detail, though much easier to produce, just somehow didn't feel right to us.

Matt, just beautiful AFV and soldiers. Admired these from the very beginning, naps, buildings, samurai, WW II. Good work.

Matt,
A truly beautiful vehicle, one of my all time fav's!
Question: you say the Antenna is copper, is this a pretty soft material which should be handled carefully?

WOW ! Incredible detail on the undercarriage , as I plan on putting this in one of my glass mirrored bottom and back display cases this is just icing on the cake. Can't wait to display it :) Thanks for going the extra mile, its not lost on some of us here . I know it would be much cheaper to put out a much less detailed product , but speaking for myself here this is what has drawn me and my bucks to First Legion..... the quality . Thanks for giving the discerning Collector another choice :) I really appreciate What First Legion is doing and please keep up the Great work. I'm sure with each new quality release more and more collectors will grow to appreciate whats being done over at First Legion.;) All the best Gebhard PS. the good things in life aren't cheap unfortunately . That goes for everything from food , housing , schools , Cars , et cetera .et cetera to include our Hobby of choice.

Ray

Thanks Ray. On the contrary, the antenna is made of copper because its far stronger than resin or white metal. If we made it from pewter or resin it would break too easily. So you can pretty much drop the antenna on the floor and then kick it across the room and then put it right back on the vehicle. Just don't drop the whole vehicle on the floor or kick it across the room. ;)

Best,

Matt

That's great Matt,
should have known better than even ask, all your products are first rate.

I am so thankful that none of my collection pertains to the Eastern Front & Stalingrad. I have avoided the two front collection and subsequent diorama temptation! What a great looking release.
