Well not so really, but i just wannt to get as much attention so maybe some of you can help me.
Do you remmember a movie when play Sean Conory and Michael Caine MAN WHO WANNT TO BE A KING.
This si the movie of two britain soldier some where in Asia(Afganistan or something) and they have like 20 rifles and they fight against some talibans or something, after that Sean Conory become their King.
Well anyway it is a great movie but i will like to know more about this period of time,battles,...because this two looks the same as the britts who fight against ZULU.So why they have the same uniform?
Is this the same time as the ZULU only in a diferent part of the world?
Will WBritain make figures from that time too?!!???
Thsi will be awsome because that way we who collect ZULU we can also use this soldiers with this Asia battles, right????
You Britans was everywhere and you make war(which is sad) but from toy soldiers collecting point of wiew is great because now we can have a lot of other toy soldiers series.
So what is next?
Where were you also making wars:D:D:D?

Good morning Ales. I remember this movie and it is a very good one. I can't address all your questions. However the one question you have as to why they are wearing a similar uniform that the British were wearing during the Zulu war is easy to answer. The uniform of the British army during the Victorian period didn't change that much regardless of duty location. It would be the same for a British (or any nationality) soldier today being stationed in Afganistan, Iraq, or Korea. Different parts of the world, different duty stations, but the same uniform.

Sorry, I don't recall the precise year(s) in which this movie takes place though it seems to be the late 1870-80's so definitely the same era as the Anglo-Zulu War. As for location, I believe the two main characters have fought with the British Army in Afghanistan and subsequently travel to the North. I hope this helps.

So what can we expekt next?
Where did this Victorian era soldiers fight too?

This is the answer a am looking for.So did anyone know which battle can we expekt?
Where did this Victorian era uniforms wear in which battles(Sudan,Afganistan,Burma,Egypt,....)

Come on Ken and others, throw as a bone:D:D:D

Being one of my favourite films (if not my fav. of all times) i know that the 2 soldiers are 2 ex Sergeants of Her Majesty..Artillery as say Peachy (Caine) referring to his "lodge", but they talk of fighting referring to Pipe Major McCreevey (of a scottish unit)so i presume they were in the infantry (i've read the short story too but i must check this detail),they talk of Ali Masjid battle so this is the second Afghan War:
http://www.britishbattles.com/second-afghan-war/ali-masjid.htm
They talk of "How general Bobs called them heroes" after fightin' at the Khiber Pass .General Bobs was the nickname of General Roberts a famous general of Victorian Era.If you want a figure from that war you can always buy the beautiful Redcoat gloss figure recently released by WB.But as already said the period was the same as the Zulu War (exactly the same year) so the uniform is correct.Another question was that often in the field you didn't see the same uniform worn at home or in other theatres, every theate had its own adaptations and i suggest to buy (or download from emule ) the beautifuil 4 books "The British Army on campaign" from Michael Barthorp and Pierre Turner, Osprey.

Ops i'm sorry..i didn't mention the year in which the story it's told...it's 1885...:)

thank you and you are very helpfull to all victoria era fans.
so i do hope they will make(WBritains) some new battlefield like Afgan and other from that period so we can use this soldiers from Zulu time here also.It will be historical correct only we need to change the oponents and diorama.
Can anyone tell us more about this Sudan and Burma?
Is this battles also in this period(victorian era)?
